Could Austin Cindric Be A Sneaky Tournament Play At Daytona?
4 months agoTeam Penske's Austin Cindric will start eighth in this week's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. This is the fourth time in Cindric's Cup career that he will start from the Top 10 at Daytona, but his first time doing so in the Summer race. In six previous starts at Daytona, Cindric has one win and three top-15 finishes. The No. 2 Ford driver also led in four of his six previous starts at the site, including 13 laps led in the Daytona 500 earlier in the season. With 24 races completed this year, Cindric has one win and 11 top-20 finishes, including three inside the Top 10. Cindric is one of only a few drivers to have led in each race with the superspeedway rules package this season, including Atlanta, where he placed fourth. Although Cindric does not carry much Place Differential upside due to his high starting position for DFS, Cindric's history and top-notch equipment from Team Penske make him worth consideration as someone who could be a sneaky surprise for tournament lineups.
