Corey Seager Will Receive Qualifying Offer
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager will receive a one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer, but as one of the premium shortstops available on the free-agent market this winter, he will turn it down. If Seager departs via free agency, the Dodgers would receive draft-pick compensation. According to The Athletic's Keith Law, Seager is the No. 2 free agent available this offseason behind only Carlos Correa. The 2016 National League Rookie of the Year has hit an impressive .306/.381/.545 with 31 home runs in 147 games since the start of last year despite missing two months this year with a broken hand. Seager has a history of dealing with injuries and could eventually move to the hot corner, but he regularly barrels up baseballs and would be especially attractive in fantasy if he landed with a team like the New York Yankees, who are looking for a shortstop.
