Christian McCaffrey Unlikely To Play In Week 17
4 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he's "probably leaning towards no" when it comes to running back Christian McCaffrey's (quadriceps, shoulder) availability for the regular season finale in Week 17 against the Saints, but the team will know more on Wednesday. McCaffrey hasn't played since Week 9 and has only appeared in three games this season due to injuries. With nothing left to play for in the regular season finale, the smart move is for the Panthers to rest their franchise running back heading into the offseason. The 24-year-old All-Pro was the top fantasy pick in most drafts, but he's been a monumental bust, to say the least. McCaffrey had 374 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in his three games, showing that he'll once again be worth a top pick in 2021 despite the disappointing season. Mike Davis should see lead-back duties one more time in Week 17, although he'll be more of an RB2 against a tough Saints Defense.
