Cardinals Focused On Stopping Ezekiel Elliott
4 years agoArizona Cardinals Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson said that they must stop Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in Week 6 and force quarterback Andy Dalton to stop them with Dak Prescott (ankle) now out for the season. "Stop the run," Peterson said on the 'All Things Covered' podcast. "Definitely gotta stop the run and force -- not saying he can't do it -- but we have to force Andy Dalton to beat us." Dalton is a three-time Pro Bowler with 31,705 career passing yards, 204 touchdowns and 118 interceptions, so he's no slouch, but he'll be a step down from what Prescott was doing through the first five weeks of the season. Defenses will be keying more on Elliott now, but he remains a must-start RB1 that could get fed even more often.
