Cam Newton Could Be Active Against Cardinals
3 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who reunited with the team on a one-year deal on Thursday, could be active in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals, although P.J. Walker will start with Sam Darnold (shoulder) on Injured Reserve, with Matt Barkley backing him up. Neither walker nor Barkley have much experience or success in the NFL, and Newton spent nine seasons with the team, including winning the 2015 MVP and leading the team to their second Super Bowl. It's not a matter of if, but when, Newton will take over the starting duties with Darnold out for the foreseeable future. Because of his rushing prowess alone -- he ran for 12 scores with the New England Patriots last year -- Newton will be worth picking up in two-QB leagues and could even be worth streaming in the right situation in deep one-QB leagues.
