Braves Sign Spencer Strider To Six-Year Extension
2 years agoThe Atlanta Braves signed rookie right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) to a six-year, $75 million contract extension on Monday that runs through the 2028 season. The deal will be worth $92 million over seven years if a $22 million club option for 2029 is exercised. The Braves are optimistic that Strider will be ready for the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which begins on Tuesday. He threw a good bullpen session on Sunday and will be considered for the roster if he checks out fine Tuesday. Atlanta will be hoping to have Strider in this series. The 23-year-old was 4-0 against the Phillies this year with a 1.27 ERA, 34 strikeouts and seven walks in 21 1/3 innings over four games (three starts).
