Brandon Scherff Not Expected To Reach Long-Term Deal
3 years agoThe Washington Football Team and All-Pro offensive guard Brandon Scherff are not expected to reach a long-term deal by Thursday's deadline to extend franchise-tagged players, according to sources. Scherff will play on the $18 million franchise tag this year, his second straight season playing on the franchise tag. The 29-year-old is a four-time Pro Bowler and was named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in his career in 2020 despite playing in just 13 games. Scherff hasn't played a full season since his second year in the league in 2016, but he remains one of the best offensive guards in the game and will help anchor one of the better offensive line units in the NFL. Running back Antonio Gibson should have some nice holes to run through again in 2021.
