Austin Slater Shut Down For A Week
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Slater (elbow), who was scratched from the team's Cactus League opener on Saturday and has yet to appear in a game, will be shut down for the next week before being re-evaluated, according to the team. Slater is dealing with right elbow neuritis. The 30-year-old's availability for Opening Day is very much up in the air right now. He was a platoon outfielder for the Giants in his sixth season with the team in 2022, hitting .264/.366/.408 with a .774 OPS, seven home runs, 34 RBI, 49 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 325 plate appearances and 125 games. If healthy, he should continue to play against left-handed pitchers, which limits his fantasy ceiling to deep-mixed and NL-only leagues. His greatest asset is his speed on the bases.
