Austin Gomber Activated Ahead of Season Debut
Austin Gomber (shoulder) off the 60-day injured list prior to his season debut on Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. Gomber has been sidelined through the opening months of the campaign due to shoulder soreness. While he was initially expected to only miss a brief period, this injury began to linger. With Gomber reuniting, the Rockies shifted right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner (back) to the 60-day IL and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Agnos to Triple-A. Last season, Gomber logged 165 innings to the tune of a 4.75 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. Across this stint, Gomber struck out just 116 batters and posted a solid 5.5% walk rate. Given his ability to limit hard contact, he is best to leave on the waiver wire when he faces the Braves this afternoon.
