Austin Ekeler Still Washington's RB2, But Could Lose Volume To Deebo Samuel Sr.
Austin Ekeler should remain in the RB2 role, backing up Brian Robinson Jr. Ekeler is now 30 years old, but he maintained his effectiveness as a pass-catching back last year. Robinson wasn't very good in this area, and hasn't been at any point in his career, so Ekeler still has some fantasy value, especially in deeper PPR leagues. The third and fourth RBs on Washington's depth chart are Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jeremy McNichols, neither of which seem to be a serious challenge to Ekeler's place in the offense. There's one small issue, though -- it's possible wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. could eat into Ekeler's volume, both as a rusher and in the passing game, because Samuel is so adept at generating yards after the catch. Ekeler is thus a fade in all but the absolute deepest of leagues, and is a mediocre handcuff to Robinson.
