Andrew Abbott Strikes Out Eight in Dominant Outing
Andrew Abbott allowed just one hit and one walk over seven scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. He also struck out eight batters and ultimately earned the win, improving to 5-0 on the year. The southpaw has allowed just one earned run over his last three starts, as well as just two earned runs over 32.2 innings in the month of May. It's worth noting that Abbott's 3.59 xERA suggests that he could be due for some regression going forward. His career-low 25.5 percent ground ball rate is also far from ideal. However, from a purely results-based perspective, the 25-year-old has been cruising along through eight starts this year.
