Washington Nationals left-handed pitching prospect Alex Clemmey extended his shutout streak on Sunday against High-A Hudson Valley. In this outing, the No. 5-ranked prospect in the system tossed five shutout frames with three hits and five walks. He struck out nine. In his previous outing, the southpaw tossed six shutout frames with four hits, two walks, and nine punchouts. Throughout his first taste of High-A, the 19-year-old has flashed elite strikeout upside and currently sits at the top of the strikeout leaderboard in the South Atlantic League. Through 45 2/3 frames, Clemmey has struck out 67 batters but has shown weak command, serving up 38 free passes. If Clemmey continues to lower his walk rate, he could be in the mix to earn a taste of Double-A late in the season.--Andy Smith
