ANALYSIS: Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez was recently promoted to the major leagues on June 17. Martinez was promoted to be an option in the infield as the Blue Jays placed shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) on the 10-day injured list.
Unfortunately, the 22-year-old has not been in the starting nine in any of his first three major league games. This is not a good sign, as Martinez may just be viewed as a bench option while Addison Barger, Spencer Horwitz, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa man the infield.

However, the number two-ranked prospect in Toronto has showcased high-upside power throughout his time in the minor leagues and could force his way into a full-time role. In 63 games at Triple-A Buffalo, Martinez held a .260/.343/.523 slash line with 16 home runs and 46 RBI. Last summer, he launched 11 long balls at Triple-A in 55 games.
Even though playing time may be a concern for Martinez, he is still worth a look in deeper leagues as he could provide high-upside power if given consistent playing time.
