Andy's NHL power rankings for all 32 teams heading into Week 12 of 2025. Where does each NHL team stand in our latest power rankings for the 2025 season?
Week 11 of the NHL season is in the books, and it's time to update our power rankings. This week, we saw a battle of the heavyweights on Sunday night as the Minnesota Wild hosted the Colorado Avalanche, which ended with a commanding win for the top team in our rankings.
With the Christmas break just days away, the playoff picture is taking shape and beginning to separate the pretenders from the contenders.
All statistics and team records mentioned are updated as of Monday, December 22. Who were the biggest risers and fallers from this past week? Let's dive in!
No. 32 - Chicago Blackhawks
With Connor Bedard on the shelf and set to remain sidelined through January, the Blackhawks struggled mightily in Week 11. During their trip to Eastern Canada, Chicago dropped all three games in regulation to the Maple Leafs, Canadiens, and Senators. They were only able to score more than two goals in one game, and allowed at least four in two.
Given that Bedard already scored 19 goals and added 25 helpers through 31 games, expect this offense to continue to stumble without its leader.
No. 31 - Seattle Kraken
The Kraken continued to lose ground last week and are just outside the bottom of our power rankings. They began Week 11 the same way they ended Week 10, with two straight losses. On Tuesday, they fell to the Colorado Avalanche, but would fall to the Flames on Thursday evening in Western Canada.
While they got back in the win column on Saturday (over the Sharks), their 2-8 record over their last 10 has sunk this club. Their -21 GD places them with the second-worst total in the sport, trailing only the Blues.
No. 30- Winnipeg Jets
The Jets concluded Week 10 with an impressive upset (5-1) over one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Capitals. Unfortunately, in Week 11, they quickly reverted to form, dropping their first three games of the week to the Senators, Blues, and the Avalanche. Over these three games, their offense was near nonexistent, scoring just four total goals.
Their struggles persisted on Sunday as they fell to the Mammoth in a tough 4-3 overtime loss. Their 2-5-3 record over their last 10 put them toward the bottom of the sport. Their 33 points now put them tied for the third-lowest mark in the league.
No. 29 - Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets began the week with the final two games of their homestand, going 1-1. Their victory came against the Ducks in overtime (4-3), and their loss came against the high-powered Wild (5-2) on Thursday. They ended the week with a rematch against the Ducks, this time in California, where they fell 4-3 in regulation.
The Blue Jackets enter Christmas week with a modest 14-15-16 record, placing them at the bottom of a competitive Metropolitan Division. Much of their offense this week came at the hands of star defenseman Zach Werenski, who netted an impressive five goals and two helpers.
No. 28 - Vancouver Canucks
No Quinn Hughes? No problem? With their top player now in Minnesota, the Canucks silenced the critics and continued to fly in Week 11, extending their overall winning streak to four games. After taking down the Devils last Sunday, they defeated the Rangers, Islanders, and Bruins on their Eastern trip this week.
Netminder Thatcher Demko has played a key role in their recent surge, winning each of his three last games with a near-perfect 0.67 GAA and a .972% SV%.

No. 27 - Calgary Flames
The Flames began their week with a 6-3 loss to the Sharks in California on Tuesday, but rebounded well, picking up victories in each of their last two games. On Thursday, they defeated the Kraken (4-2), and on Saturday, they picked up what could be their most impressive win of the season, defeating the Golden Knights 6-3 in Calgary.
Despite still sitting in the bottom part of the rankings, the Flames have shown solid improvement this month, holding a 6-3-1 record over their last 10 games.
No. 26 - St. Louis Blues
St. Louis continued their win-loss-win-loss pattern in Week 11 and remained in the bottom half of our rankings. They began Week 11 with a 5-2 loss to the Predators, after taking down the Blackhawks to close out Week 10. While they rebounded well on Wednesday, shutting out the Jets, they fell to the Rangers in a 2-1 OT loss on Thursday.
On the weekend, they concluded their week with an impressive 6-2 victory over the Panthers. Overall, they sit at 14-15-4 and 5-4-1 over their last 10. Forward Robert Thomas has led the offense over the last two weeks, tallying five goals and five helpers over his last 10 games.
No. 25 - Toronto Maple Leafs
After showing some signs of life, the Leafs entered Week 11 riding a two-game losing streak and needed to stop the bleeding, and they did so on Tuesday night. Facing the slumping Blackhawks, the Leafs got back in the win column, thanks to a two-point game from Auston Matthews and William Nylander.
However, their inconsistent play continues to hurt them, as they would then drop their next two games against the Capitals and the Predators on Thursday and Saturday. They ended their week with a loss to the Stars on Sunday (5-1), which brings them to a tough three-game losing skid.
While they have shown flashes at times, this team remains in the bottom half of our power rankings until further notice.
No. 24 - Nashville Predators
Another popular member of the bottom of the list who has been turning the corner is the Nashville Predators. After picking up two victories last week, the Predators carried this momentum into Week 11, taking down the Blues on Monday (5-2) and then upsetting the Maple Leafs on Saturday (5-3). While the team fell to the Hurricanes on Wednesday, this team is showing substantial progress.
On Sunday, they continued to show some progress, taking down the Rangers in a 2-1 victory. The Predators dominated the shot total in this game and could have made the score look a lot worse, but Jonathan Quick stopped 30 of the 31 shots he saw. The Preds now sit with a 15-16-4 record and an eye-catching 7-3 record over their last 10.
No. 23 - Utah Mammoth
The Mammoth picked up two massive victories last week (defeating the Kraken and the Penguins in a thrilling third-period rally) but saw their momentum quickly snapped in Week 11. On Tuesday, they took a tough 4-1 loss to the Bruins. While they got back in the win column with a victory in Detroit on Wednesday night, they took a step back in New Jersey on Friday.
On Sunday, they returned home and picked up a much-needed two points in an overtime victory over the Jets. Their 5-5 record over their last 10 has prevented them from gaining much ground in the conference.
No. 22 - San Jose Sharks
The Sharks extended their win streak on Tuesday to three games when they took down the Flames by a commanding 6-3 score. However, they would end Week 11 with two disappointing regulation losses to the high-powered Dallas Stars and the slumping Seattle Kraken, leaving them at a 17-16-3 record.
As expected, Macklin Celebrini enjoyed another dominant week and continues to prove he is a budding superstar in the sport. Through three games, the former first overall pick found the back of the net twice and added five helpers. Overall, he enters Game No. 37 with 18 goals and 36 assists.
No. 21 - Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres enjoyed a strong conclusion to their Western road trip, taking down the Oilers, Canucks, and Kraken to close out in Week 10. They saw the success continue on Thursday, when they returned home, defeating the Flyers 5-3 in Buffalo. On Saturday, they continued their impressive stretch, taking down the Islanders (3-2) in a shootout.
They concluded their perfect week with another big victory, this time taking down the Devils (3-1), who welcomed back forward Jack Hughes. Despite still sitting in the bottom half of the league standings, the Sabers have shown substantial progress this month and boast a stellar 7-3 record over their last 10 games, putting them only three points behind the second wild card.
Their six-game win streak stands as the best in the sport.
No. 20 - Pittsburgh Penguins
This club is in free-fall. After taking a massive dip in last week's ranking, the Penguins were once again one of our biggest fallers as they now sit near the bottom of the conference. This week, the Penguins saw their troubles continue as they fell to the Oilers (6-4) on Tuesday, the Senators (4-0) on Thursday, and the Canadiens (4-0) on Saturday.
While they got a much-needed two points on Sunday in a shootout victory, they remain on a downward trajectory. After one of the more impressive starts of the season's first quarter, the Penguins are now returning to preseason expectations, sitting as a rebuilding team near the bottom half of the conference.
No. 19 - Los Angeles Kings
The Kings were on a two-game slide heading into Week 12 and saw their slump extended to four games. They began their week with a 4-1 loss to the Stars on Monday and then fell to the Florida Panthers (3-2) on Wednesday night. They snapped their slump on Thursday, taking down the Lightning in Tampa Bay by a score of 2-1.
Over their last 10, they carry a modest 4-4-2 record with an overall 15-10-9 record. Their offense continues to bring them down as they enter the new week with a mere 88 total goals scored, the second-lowest in the sport. The Kings are just one of two teams that have yet to score 90 goals this season (the other being the Kraken).
No. 18 - New York Rangers
The Rangers began Week 11 with two tough losses on their home ice, to the Anaheim Ducks (in Chris Kreider's return to MSG) on Monday and to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. In these two games, the Rangers scored just one combined goal. However, the Blue Shirts rebounded well, taking down the Blues (2-1) in overtime on Thursday and the Flyers in a critical shootout victory on Saturday.
On Sunday, their week ended with a rough 2-1 loss to the Predators in Nashville. The Rangers continue to hold their place in a crowded Eastern playoff bubble and will look to regain their footing in Tuesday's Metropolitan showdown against the Capitals.
Over his last nine games, forward Artemi Panarin has only been kept off the scoresheet twice and has scored five goals. He remains the backbone of this offensive attack.
No. 17 - New Jersey Devils
Following a tough loss to the Canucks last Sunday evening, the Devils quickly regained form during their trip out west. Facing the Golden Knights on Wednesday, the Devils extended with a 2-1 shootout victory and then stayed hot on Friday, defeating the Mammoth by a 2-1 score.
While they fell to the red-hot Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, their roster received a much-needed boost. They welcomed back superstar forward Jack Hughes on Sunday, following his lengthy 18-game absence. Jack Hughes should play a key role as they look to return to the top of the Metropolitan Division, where they were throughout most of October. He wasted little time making an impact, netting a goal in his return.

No. 16 - Boston Bruins
Following a tough loss to the surging Wild last Sunday, the Bruins were able to brush that loss away quickly by taking down the Mammoth 4-1 on Tuesday thanks to a two-goal effort by Morgan Geekie. However, their homestand took a turn for the worse, as they fell to the Oilers and Canucks (in overtime) on Thursday and Saturday.
It did not get much better on Sunday, as they fell to the Senators in a massive Atlantic Division tilt (6-2), bringing them to a 20-16-1 record.
As noted above, Geekie has continued to be the sparkplug of this offense. He enters the Christmas week on pace to smash his previous career-high totals with 25 goals and 14 helpers through 37 games of action. The Bruins will host the Canadiens on Tuesday night before the break.
No. 15 - Ottawa Senators
After weeks of sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference due to their inconsistent play, the Senators enjoyed an impressive week, which gave them a significant boost in the standings. Coming off a 3-2 loss to the Wild last weekend, the Senators picked up all six points in each of the first three games, taking down the Jets (in overtime), the Penguins, and the Blackhawks.
They concluded their week with a 6-2 statement victory over the Bruins, bringing them to a perfect 4-for-4 in games in Week 11. This was a much-needed turnaround for a slumping Senators team that continues to hold its footing in the log-jammed Eastern Conference.
Tim Stützle led the way this week, tallying a team-high eight points, including two three-point efforts.
No. 14 - Florida Panthers
The Panthers were one of our biggest risers last week, and the reigning two-time Stanley Cup Champions continued to show they have found their footing and are surging in the Eastern Conference. This week, the Cats began with a 5-2 victory in the battle of Florida over the Lightning, then took down the Kings, Hurricanes (in a shootout), but fell to the Blues (6-2) to close out the week.
They now sit with a 19-14-2 record and a stellar 7-2-1 record over their last 10. With Matthew Tkachuk (groin) resuming skating and quickly approaching a return, this team is about to get even scarier as we enter the second half.
No. 13 - Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens concluded last week with an impressive 4-1 victory over the surging Oilers but saw their momentum stalled by the Flyers on Tuesday, in their 4-1 loss. However, the Canadiens rebounded quite well, defeating the lowly Blackhawks (4-1) on Thursday and then shutting out the free-falling Penguins (4-0) on Saturday. While their win streak was snapped on Sunday in a rematch against Pittsburgh, they did pick up a shootout loser point.
Their main storyline of the week was that budding star defenseman Lane Hutson became the 11th-fastest defender in league history to reach the 100-point mark. The reigning Calder Trophy winner has already tallied 32 points through his first 36 games of the campaign.
No. 12 - Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning began their week with the Battle of Florida, which ended in a tough 5-2 loss to the two-time Stanley Cup Champions. They saw their struggles continue as they fell to the Kings in a tough 2-1 loss on Thursday night. In this game, they dominated the shot to the net but could not solve Anton Forsberg, who stopped 31 of the 32 shots he saw.
However, they concluded their week with a massive 6-4 victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday. Even though they hold a modest 3-6-1 record over their last 10, their dominant November has kept them within the top 12 of our ranking.
No. 11 - Philadelphia Flyers
After ending last week with three-straight overtime points, the Flyers finally earned two points in their first game of the week against the Canadiens on Tuesday (4-1). However, their inconsistency continues to hinder their upside as they fell to the Sabres (5-3) on Thursday and then the Rangers in a disappointing third-period collapse that ended in a shootout loss (5-4).
Despite the tough finish, the Flyers enter Week 11 with a 17-10-7 record and a 3-3-4 record over their last 10, good for fourth in the Metropolitan Division. Forward Trevor Zegras will carry a seven-game, nine-game point streak into a tilt against the Canucks on Monday night.
No. 10 - Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights had a mediocre showing this week, beginning with a shootout loss to the Devils (2-1) on their home ice on Wednesday, and then taking one of their worst losses of the season to the Flames (6-3) on Saturday night. Their struggles continued on Sunday as they fell to the Oilers in a regulation loss (4-3).
Despite dropping all three games this week, they still carry a strong 6-2-2 record over their last 10 and are primed to regain their form against an inconsistent Sharks team on Tuesday night.
No. 9 - Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers have been one of our biggest risers since the start of the month and continue a similar trend in Week 11. They began the week with a 6-4 victory over the Penguins, as Tristan Jarry led the way to the victory against his former team. On Thursday, they took down the Bruins (3-1) but saw their win streak come to an end at the hands of the Wild on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Oilers picked up a massive two points over the Golden Knights (4-3) on the back of a two-goal game from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Connor McDavid continued his remarkable offensive run, extending his point streak to 10 games. Over these 10 games, McDavid has found the back of the net 12 times and added 14 helpers.

No. 8 - Washington Capitals
The Capitals enjoyed a massive start to the month, bringing them back near the top of the Eastern Conference, but took another step back in Week 11 after a modest showing the week before. After falling to the Jets (5-1) last weekend, they took another embarrassing loss to open Week 11, falling to the Wild (5-0). On Thursday, they got back in the win column, defeating the Leafs (4-0), but fell to the Red Wings (5-2) on Saturday.
They concluded their week with a rematch against the Red Wings, but fell again, 3-2. However, they did escape with an overtime loser point. While they have taken a bit of a step back, the Capitals remain within striking distance of the Hurricanes for the top spot in the division.
Look for them to bounce back against the Rangers on Tuesday night before the Christmas break.
No. 7 - Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks ended Week 10 with two tough losses in their Eastern trip against the Islanders and Devils, but were able to get back in the win column against the Rangers on Monday. However, their lengthy road trip ended with an overtime loss to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. They had a tough task awaiting them from back home in California, facing the Dallas Stars, who took them down 8-3 on Friday night.
Their week ended with a massive 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. While this young team has hit a bit of a skid recently (5-4-1 over their last 10), they still boast a stellar 21-13-2 placing them alongside the Golden Knights for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
Forward Ryan Poehling enjoyed a massive week, leading the team in scoring with one goal and five helpers across four games.
No. 6 - New York Islanders
The Islanders took care of business in Week 10, picking up all six possible points. However, their fortunes flipped in Week 11, as they tallied just one of their possible six points across three games. They began with two regulation losses to the Red Wings (3-2) and the Canucks (4-1). They ended their week with a shootout loss to the Sabres on Saturday.
Despite the rough week, they do not take a massive dip in our rankings given their near-perfect play earlier this month. Rookie Matthew Schaefer continues to be the top story of this club as he enters his 37th career game with nine goals, 15 helpers, and 50 blocked shots.
No. 5 - Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings continued to hold their footing near the top of the Eastern Conference in Week 11. Following a strong showing in Week 10, they picked up another two points in their opener of the week against the Islanders (3-2). While they fell to the Mammoth on Wednesday evening, they took down another Eastern powerhouse, the Capitals, on Saturday (5-2) in D.C.
On Sunday, in the second half of the home-and-home with the Capitals, they saw a similar result, defeating them 3-2, this time in overtime. The Red Wings now sit alone at the top of the Atlantic Division and carry an elite 7-2-1 over their last 10.
No. 4 - Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes began their week by extending their win streak to an impressive five games as they took on the Predators (4-1) in Nashville on Wednesday night. In this game, top center, Sebastian Aho led the way, scoring two goals and tacking on an assist. However, they ended their week with two losses to two eastern teams they have had their fair share of struggles against, the Panthers and the Lightning.
Despite falling to both of their division rivals, they enter Week 11 sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with 47 points (22-10-3) and an impressive +18 GD. Unfortunately, their offense will likely take a dip in the coming weeks with star winger Seth Jarvis (upper body) now on the IR, due to the injury he suffered on Friday.
No. 3 - Minnesota Wild
If the Wild did not impress you last week, they sure did in Week 11. The Wild, with newly acquired Quinn Hughes, continued to steamroll their opponents, picking up three straight victories to begin the week. On Tuesday, they shut down the Capitals (5-0) and then took down the Blue Jackets (5-2) on Thursday. On Saturday night, they would then defeat McDavid and company (5-2).
However, their win streak was cut short on Sunday by the No. 1-ranked team, as they fell to the Avalanche 5-1. Despite the loss, they remain in the top-3 in our ranking in a loaded Central Division. While Kirill Kaprizov and Quinn Hughes have stolen the headlines, Matt Boldy continues to play at an elite level, scoring six goals and adding five helpers over his last seven games.
No. 2- Dallas Stars
Following a surprising two-game skid to close out Week 10, the Stars quickly got back on track in Week 11, kickstarting another lengthy win streak. On Monday, they took down the Kings (4-1) and stayed hot on Thursday and Friday, defeating the Sharks and the Ducks during their quick California road trip.
On Sunday, they embarrassed the Maple Leafs, taking them down 5-1 to conclude Week 11. Their four-game win streak is tied for the third-highest in the sport, trailing only the Avalanche and the Sabres. They sit comfortably with the second-most points in the sport (55).
No. 1 - Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche had a short three-game slate of action this week and continued to prove they deserve the top spot on our list. They opened with a 5-3 victory over the Kraken in Seattle on Tuesday, and then took down the Jets (3-2) on their home ice on Friday night.
On Sunday, they proved once again why they deserve to remain in the top spot until further notice. They traveled to Minnesota to face the surging Wild and embarrassed them, defeating them 5-1. In this game, Mackenzie Blackwood enjoyed a dominant showing, stopping 28 of the 29 shots he faced en route to picking up his fifth-straight victory.
The top three in the Central Division continue to hold the top three spots on our list.
