NASCAR Xfinity Series: DraftKings DFS Preview for Sonoma Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 (6/8/24)

NASCAR XFINITY SERIES STOCK DFS PICKS

Justin Carter's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 at Sonoma Raceway. Read his daily fantasy NASCAR advice and Xfinity sleepers.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series is in Sonoma this weekend for the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250. This year, Sonoma was repaved, and we saw some incredibly fast laps in practice on Friday. How will that translate into the race itself? Last year, Aric Almirola won this race, with A.J. Allmendinger, Kyle Larson, Ty Gibbs, and Parker Kligerman rounding out the top five.

Last weekend, the Xfinity Series was in Portland for the Pacific Office Automation 147, which saw Shane Van Gisbergen win his first race in Xfinity. Justin Allgaier led 46 laps and finished in second place.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Xfinity Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Xfinity DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Xfinity Series, including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station. This slate locks on 6/8/24 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.

Potential Top Plays

Note: This was written before qualifying, so it does not take place differential into account. If you have specific questions about drivers after qualifying, feel free to ask me over on X. I’m more likely to respond on the timeline than I am to DMs.

Shane Van Gisbergen ($10.7k)

Last week, Shane Van Gisbergen won for the first time in the Xfinity Series. This week, he came to Sonoma and immediately ran the fastest lap in practice. The former Australian SuperCars champion should be viewed as a favorite here on Saturday.

Ty Gibbs ($11.0K)

Last year, Ty Gibbs started seventh and finished fourth here. He'll look to follow that up with an even better performance in 2024. Gibbs is a skilled road course racer, with an average finish of 11.0 in his 17 career road course starts in the Xfinity Series, a number that includes four wins.

Justin Allgaier ($10.0K)

Justin Allgaier has three career Xfinity Series victories on road courses and came up just short of a fourth last week at Portland. In his previous Xfinity Series start at Sonoma, he qualified second and finished seventh last season.

A.J. Allmendinger ($10.5K)

Part of me wants to fade A.J. Allmendinger this weekend because this is arguably his worst NASCAR road course, but even with that in mind, you have to have some exposure to someone who is so good overall at road courses, even if he has just three Cup Series top 10s in 12 starts here.

Potential Mid-Tier Options

Sammy Smith ($8.5K)

Sammy Smith comes into this race off of a third-place finish at Portland. While not known for his road course ability, Smith has three top fives in 12 starts on the track type. He was ninth here last season.

John Hunter Nemechek ($8.8K)

While John Hunter Nemechek isn't going to set the world on fire on a road course, I think you have to consider him someone who can finish inside the top five, even if he won't be battling for the win. He was third at COTA earlier this year, his only other Xfinity Series road course start in 2024.

Boris Said ($7.7K)

Like Allmendinger, there's a part of me that wants to fade Boris Said. He's getting up there in age. He crashed in practice. He hasn't recorded a top 10 in a top NASCAR series since 2015. Still, he's an experienced road course racer who has recorded five of his eight Cup Series top 10s at Sonoma and who is driving a Hendrick Motorsports car—or, well, I guess the backup car he's climbing into today is a JRM car, but the point still stands.

Potential Value Options

Ed Jones ($6.6K)

Sam Hunt Racing only brought one car to Sonoma this week, with Sage Karam running an Emerling-Gase car while Ed Jones stays in the SHR machine that the piloted at Portland last weekend. In that race, the UAE driver started 17th and finished fifth, earning a top five in just his second Xfinity Series start. He remains way too cheap this week.

Parker Retzlaff ($6.1K)

After a strong start to the year, Parker Retzlaff has faded a bit, but he's had solid runs at road courses this season. He started 17th and finished 11th at COTA, then started 15th and finished ninth at Portland last week. There's a chance for this to be a really, really strong value play.

Alex Labbe ($6.5K)

After running full time in the Xfinity Series for a few years, Alex Labbe has stepped back into a part time role and is set to make his second start of the season. He has 13 career top 10s in Xfinity, with six of those coming on road courses. I'm not sure how good this No. 07 car will be, but Labbe could sneak into the top 10 if things break right for him.

Ryan Sieg ($6.4K)

Finally, we have Ryan Sieg, who was 14th at COTA and 14th again last week in Portland. He started those races 27th and 24th respectively, so if he has another mediocre qualifying performance on Saturday, he could wind up as a top place differential option. I'll fade him if he starts top 20, though.
