Thunder Dan's best MLB player prop bets for today (5/24/2025). Bet his home run props (HR props) and win money betting on MLB player props.
Home run bets are not for the timid! Predicting long balls isn't as easy as you might think, but when you hit on one at long odds, it's a pretty great feeling and an immediate big boost to the bankroll. We bet on long balls every day here at RotoBaller, and today's MLB games provide no shortage of spots to target for homers.
On this page, you'll read about my favorite home run props from MLB games on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Odds for each pick are from FanDuel Sportsbook and are subject to change throughout the day. I like to target guys with higher odds in these articles, so keep that in mind when reading!
Remember to shop around at other sportsbooks to find the best odds, which gives you more value on your bets. It's also essential to only risk a small portion of your bankroll on home run props since they're tough to win.

MLB Prop Bets - Today's Home Run Prop Picks (5/24/2025)
Here are the hitters I'll cover for Saturday, May 24:
- Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox
- Jonathan Aranda, Tampa Bay Rays
- Daulton Varsho, Toronto Blue Jays
- Taylor Ward, Los Angeles Angels
- Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies
Rafael Devers OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+420 FanDuel Sportsbook)
The theme today is "ride them while they're hot," and there's maybe only one guy who's hotter than Rafael Devers right now (and we are betting on him, too).
Devers smashed two bombs yesterday and drove in eight runs as the Red Sox beat up on the Orioles. That makes five home runs in his last six games!
Today, he will face Zach Eflin, whom he's had success against in his career, with a 3.68 average and two home runs in 19 at-bats.
Even if he doesn't get to Eflin, this Baltimore bullpen has been so bad this year that he's likely to draw a positive matchup for his final few at-bats, too. I'm just really surprised at these odds based on how well Devers is hitting the ball right now and how terrible the Orioles' pitching has been.
Jonathan Aranda OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+480 FanDuel Sportsbook)
It looks like beautiful weather for home runs in Tampa today as it's going to be in the mid-80s with high humidity. It doesn't take much for fly balls to leave the yard at Steinbrenner Park, and we have two HR-prone pitchers on the hill in this game in Shane Baz and Jose Berrios.
Let's talk about Berrios first. He's allowing 1.4 HR/9 this season after giving up 1.45 HR/9 last year. He's particularly bad to lefties, who pull him at a 48% rate and make medium or hard contact against him at a 89% rate.
Aranda is a sneaky good power hitter with six home runs on the season despite being a platoon player. He has some pretty impressive BvP against Berrios, with three home runs against him in just ten at-bats. I try not to lean into the BvP too much, but he sees the ball well out of Berrios's hand. He hits righties well and has a great park factor working in his favor, too.
Daulton Varsho OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+370 FanDuel Sportsbook)
Shane Baz has been pretty darn bad over the last month after he started the season strong. He's allowed six home runs in his last four starts. Enter Daulton Varsho who swings for the fences every time he's at the plate, and we have a pretty compelling matchup.
Varsho is a dead pull hitter, so if he gets the ball in the air against Baz, then I like his chances of clearing the fences in this park. He's homered off him already once in two at-bats and he tends to be better against hard-throwers than soft-tossers, so I like how he profiles here.

Taylor Ward OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+400 FanDuel Sportsbook)
And now we get to the hottest hitter in baseball - Mr. Taylor Ward of the Los Angeles Angels. Ward has 15 home runs this season, with seven of those long balls coming in the last two weeks. He hit another one last night and now has five bombs in his last seven games!
This matchup for Ward could not be any better tonight. He'll face Cal Quantrill of the Miami Marlins at home. Quantrill is a gas can who has allowed six home runs already this season, but what's more important is that he has major reverse splits as he's much worse against right-handed hitters.
Quantrill has allowed four home runs to righties and a slash line of .392/.417/.646. That's incredibly bad, and he's going to face a nearly all-right-handed lineup from the Angels in this game. I hope the hot Angels bats don't knock him out of this game too early before Ward gets a few cracks at him, but it also wouldn't surprise me if Ward took him yard in the first inning either.
Anyways, these odds are fantastic for a hitter who is this hot in what is a perfect matchup for him. I might go take out a second mortgage this afternoon to lay down on this home run call tonight (just kidding, I am not doing that - please bet responsibly!)
Trea Turner OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+440 FanDuel Sportsbook)
Turner continues our theme of hot hitters today. After hitting only two home runs in the first six weeks of the season, Turner has smashed two in his last three games, including one last night against the Athletics.
We have a lot of factors working in Turner's favor tonight. First of all, he's on the right side of his splits against lefty Jeffrey Springs, who has pitched well lately, but has still given up seven home runs to righties, four of those at home at Sutter Health Park.
I love targeting these minor league stadiums that the Rays and Athletics are playing in this season for home runs. The dimensions are smaller and both have proven to be a boost to home run hitters so far.
I think Turner can keep his power stroke going tonight against Springs, who relies entirely too much on his breaking pitches and offspeed stuff. He has a very poor fastball and if he leaves it out over the plate at all, the Phillies are going to do some damage to it.
Conclusion
Home run prop bets provide some of the most thrilling opportunities for MLB bettors looking to capitalize on power-hitting performances.
Whether you're targeting hot hitters like Rafael Devers or Taylor Ward, or looking for the perfect matchup to exploit, the right HR prop bet can give you a major edge in the market.
Remember, while these bets can yield huge payouts, they also come with inherent risk, so it's crucial to bet responsibly and focus on value by shopping around for the best odds.
As always, make sure you're staying informed and taking into account factors like ballpark conditions, pitcher splits, and recent player form to maximize your chances of success with home run props. Good luck, and may your picks go yard!
