ANALYSIS: Latavius Murray averaged 15.8 snaps, 3.8 carries, and 16.6 rushing yards per game from Weeks 1-5. However, his involvement in Buffalo’s backfield rotation since Week 6 has elevated him into consideration as a roster addition if you are contending with significant roster challenges.
The unfortunate neck injury that was sustained by Damien Harris altered the distribution of touches within the Bills’ backfield. Murray has now averaged 26.3 snaps per game from Weeks 6-8, including a season-high 32 in Week 7. Murray has also carried 21 times while accumulating 60 yards during that sequence.
Managers with James Cook contained on their rosters, are not enamored with Murray’s repeated opportunities in the red zone. However, he has accumulated 10 carries since Week 3 and appears destined to collect additional opportunities inside the 20.
Any concerns about procuring the 33-year Murray for your rosters should be offset by his consistent role in the Bills’ offense. That sustains his presence as a potential flex option if bye weeks and injuries have created problematic lineup issues.
