Khalil Shakir, Jakobi Meyers, Rashid Shaheed: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks for Fantasy Football Week 6

Khalil Shakir - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Should I start Khalil Shakir, Jakobi Meyers, Rashid Shaheed for Week 6? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.

For fantasy managers, nothing can be more frustrating than deciding whether or not to start a wide receiver in that gray zone. You know, the type of WR that has all the talent to make you want to start them, but is also inconsistent enough to make you hesitate.

Week 6 brings more difficult lineup decisions, especially with dreaded bye weeks and injuries taking a toll. Khalil Shakir, Jakobi Meyers, and Rashid Shaheed have the potential for big games, but figuring out when to trust them becomes the tricky part.

Let's look at the Week 6 matchups to see which wide receivers deserve a starting nod this week and who is best left sitting on your bench.

Should I Start Khalil Shakir for Fantasy Football?

Steady, but not top-tier, is the perfect way to describe Shakir this season. He brought in six passes on nine targets for 45 yards in the Bills' Week 5 loss to the Patriots. The receiver matched a season high in targets, but he wasn't able to do much with them.

Even so, Shakir remains an integral piece in the Buffalo offense. He leads the team in receptions at 22 and sits second in receiving yards (235) and touchdowns (two). The Boise State alum is gaining opportunities, but Buffalo likes to rotate their receivers, capping his ceiling.

This week's matchup with the Falcons won't do Shakir many favors. Atlanta has allowed the second-fewest receiving yards to opposing wideouts at 494 total, conceding the sixth-fewest fantasy points per contest to the position. Add in that cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr. is back, and it's a recipe for disaster for the receiver.

If you're struggling with depth or dealing with the bye week, Shakir is a decent flex in deeper PPR leagues (if you need just eight to 10 solid points). His ceiling is limited unless the game script requires Josh Allen to toss 40-plus passes. In shallow leagues, you're probably best off leaving him on the bench.

Should I Start Jakobi Meyers for Fantasy Football?

After starting the season with a bang, Meyers has come back to earth quickly. He opened the season with back-to-back double-digit PPR games (17.7 and 12.8 points) but hasn't achieved one since. In Week 5, with Brock Bowers injured, the WR posted just 32 yards on four receptions as the Raiders were trampled by Indianapolis, 40-6.

Quarterback Geno Smith has hindered Meyers plenty this season. He's tossed a league-high nine interceptions to just six touchdowns so far and has not been on the same page as his offensive weapons. Meyers' targets have dropped because of this, with 26 over the first three matchups to just 13 combined in the last two.

This week's battle with the Titans gives managers reason for optimism. Tennessee has given up the fifth-most receiving yards to opposing wideouts at 805. Additionally, they rank eighth in fantasy points given up to the position and have allowed four touchdowns to receivers (one per contest except last week).

The volume hasn't been outstanding lately, but with Meyers still seeing over 90% of snaps most days, he's still a major focal point of the offense. Against a beatable Titans secondary, he makes for a stable WR3/Flex play in Week 6. Meyers is safer than Shakir because the matchup is a softer one, but his fantasy day will come down to whether Smith can sustain drives.

Should I Start Rashid Shaheed for Fantasy Football?

Few players can break out with huge fantasy numbers off one play, but Shaheed is a player who definitely can. He exploded in Week 5, tallying 114 yards and a score on just four catches. That touchdown went for 87 yards, registering a speed of 21.72 mph (per NFL Next Gen Stats), the fifth-fastest play of the season.

His big-play speed makes him a dangerous fantasy asset. Through five games, Shaheed has registered 22 catches for 288 yards and two scores on 30 targets, ranking third on the Saints in looks behind fellow wideout Chris Olave and tight end Juwan Johnson. Although he isn't heavily targeted, he still gets the most out of what he's given.

This week's matchup with New England sets up nicely for the receiver. The Patriots have given up the seventh-most receiving yards and nine touchdowns to WRs this year. Defensive starters like Keion White and Jaylinn Hawkins are banged up, meaning Shaheed could rip off another big play.

The Saints' offense has trusted Spencer Rattler more lately, which only brightens Shaheed's outlook. He has a safer floor than many others in WR2/WR3 or Flex consideration for the week. Shaheed's a start, especially if you're filling injury or bye week gaps.
