BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 48% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Man down! Man down! It took us only two weeks (and change) to find ourselves in this position, but Backup SZN has finally arrived! Dalvin Cook went down for the Vikings and it's Alexander Mattison stepping up now. Also: David Montgomery suffered an ankle injury last Sunday and Khalil Herbert absolutely demolished Houston's defense on the ground.
Montgomery's injury is bad. Or at least, that's the first reaction you can get from it. The RB1 got off the field and was instantly ruled out of the game, and he was added to the post-game injury report of the Bears. Khalil Herbert already made some headlines after his Week 1 performance (11.3 PPR points to the tune of a 45-yard, one-touchdown effort on just nine carries), but he went back down to earth with a W2 stinker (5.1 PPR points, just four carries).
What Hebert did in Week 3 against Houston along with Montgomery's injury, though, is going to put his rostership at around the 100% mark entering Week 4. Herbert rushed the rock 20 (!) times last Sunday for a ridiculous 157 rushing yards to go with two (!!) touchdowns. He also caught his two targets for 12 extra yards. All in all, the 30.9 PPR points against Houston made Herbert the third-best fantasy player of the week (pending MNF) and obviously the RB1 one of the full W3 slate of games.
Here is the list of players to carry the ball 20+ times for 100+ yards in at least one game this season: Herbert, CMC, Cordarelle Patterson, Jonathan Taylor, Leonard Fournette, and Nick Chubb. You get an idea of what we're talking about here. Oh, and just in case, none of those aforementioned players (not named Khalil) scored more than a single touchdown in those outings.
Long-term injury or not, Khalil Herbert deserves to be rostered in All leagues and started in most of them if not every single one too.
