ANALYSIS: Flier WW target of the week, this one. Bourne, he of the zero-percent rostership made the cut after coming absolutely out of the left field for the Patriots on Sunday racking up 21.6 PPR points in his best game of the baby season by far. Will that keep going on for long? Hard to believe, but it's not that the Patriots have an overload of talented pass-catchers around, so we have to keep our faith up.
Bourne is the best single-game receiver in New England through three games. That means that no other pass-catcher has bested his 21.6 PPR points scored against the Saints in a game in which Bourne caught 6 of his 8 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. Contrary to what happens in Kansas City, where any given WR can eat any given week because QB Pat Mahomes is that great, in New England we don't know who is going to end racking up points because of the pure randomness of this offense and rookie QB Mac Jones.
Nelson Agholor is the bounciest player ever (led the offense with 18.2 PPR points in W1), Jakobi Meyers is the promise never truly fulfilled (team-leading 7.8 PPR points in W2), and now Kendrick Bourne has taken the reins of the attack--it must be said that Jakobi Meyers would have been better had Bourne not caught the TD, as Meyers posted a 14-9-94 line himself. Bourne never averaged more than 8.6 FPPG in his four years playing for the 49ers, though, so tame your expectations when it comes to Bourne's upside and add only in the deepest of leagues. This team lacks offensive talent, has a rookie-QB throwing the ball, and the 21.6-point performance is most probably going to be Bourne's season-high when all is said and done in December.
