John Metchie III is a 2023 fantasy football draft sleeper at wide receiver and an ADP draft value. Target Metchie III as an undervalued WR in fantasy football drafts.
BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~200 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~214
ANALYSIS: There is a possibility that Nico Collins may not be the guy in Houston, in which case John Metchie III becomes an excellent pivot option who can be drafted in the 16th round.
Metchie was a second-round pick and an early declaration, both positive indicators for receiver success in the NFL. He had impressive numbers over his last two years in college: 212 targets, 151 receptions, 2,058 yards, and 14 touchdowns. In his final season, he commanded a 23.2% target share.
Although Metchie didn't play last season due to a lymphoma diagnosis, he has the highest draft capital among the receivers in Houston who are under 30 years old (sorry Robert Woods). He possesses an excellent prospect profile and checks many boxes.
It's a tall order to expect him to become a fantasy starter in his first year playing in the NFL after overcoming cancer and a college ACL injury. However, the depth chart in Houston provides him with an excellent opportunity. He's worth a late-round dart throw due to the available opportunity and lack of established competition.
