Jermar Jefferson (RB, DET) - Fantasy Football Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups

Matt Breida is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 12 of the 2021 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: The Detroit Lions continue to get thinner at offense, and more specifically at the running back position. Stud running back D'Andre Swift will be out this week yet again, as he continues to deal with a shoulder injury. Earlier today is was also announced that backup running back Jamaal Williams is being placed on the COVID-19 list:

Jamaal Williams is going to miss this game against the Broncos, which propels Jermar Jefferson into the starting role at running back. Godwin Igwebuike will likely be involved as well, but Jefferson is expected to be the next man up and get the majority of touches in this tough matchup.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson is doubtful to play as well, so the Lions are very low on offensive options. This isn't an ideal situation for Jefferson, as the offense may be struggling even more than usual. But we'd expect Jefferson to get his fair share of touches, and he may be targeted out of the backfield as well. Those in deeper leagues, or those looking for a running back due to injuries and bye weeks, should go ahead and pickup Jefferson off the waiver wire. He's a low-end RB2 / FLEX option, with expectations realistically on the lower side, but Jefferson could surprise as well. Stranger things have happened when opportunities arise in the NFL.
