Jaylen Warren is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren logged his highest snap share of the season (51%) and had the most carries he's had this year (12) in the Steelers' blowout win against the New York Jets on Monday. Though it could have been game script related, he appears to be fully healthy after missing Weeks 4-5 with injury.

The third-year pro has long been viewed as a breakout candidate, but he has excellent value as a handcuff to lead back Najee Harris and has intriguing pass-catching upside. He's also a fantastic pass-protector, which earns him plenty of playing time. He's worth rostering in at least deeper leagues for these reasons alone.

Being a good blocker and receiver out of the backfield is one of the best ways to earn playing time in a complimentary role. For fantasy purposes, we'd like to see him earn more targets. 12 carries is a solid clip, though. The Jets defense did a good job bottling him up, so he wasn't able to crack double-digit fantasy points.
However, against softer defenses, his 12 carries and three targets could lead to a much better score, and he's worth a speculative pickup, especially in leagues with 14+ teams.
