BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I'd be lying if I said that James Washington has been a top-tier performer in the 2021 NFL season. Far from it, actually. But hey, that's why this man is barely rostered (if at all) in most fantasy leagues! But Washington is coming off his best game of the year even though he just logged a 45% snap share, is part of an offense led by a QB1 (yes, Roethlisberger has played to top-12 QB levels in three of the past four weeks), and the Steelers have a reasonably sweet schedule ROS.
Washington tied a bunch of season highs in targets (6), receptions (4), touchdowns (1), and almost yards (65 to his W4 69-yard tally) this past TNF against Minnesota. At the end of the day, Washington's 16.5 PPR points were by far his best outcome of the year (compared to his 10.9 prior-best) and he only played 29 snaps on the day. The truth is that the snaps have been on the wrong side of 50% for three games in a row, and the usage had been rather low for three straight games prior to the W14 match (just 6 total targets with 3 receptions for a combined 15 yards...).
But in last week's Thursday affair with Minny Washington finally exploded for a WR2 finish after not finishing above WR40 in any prior weekend. All of Pittsburgh's wideouts (Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and Ray-Ray McCloud) logged more targets than Washington last week, yes, but none other than Claypool (17.5 PPR to 16.5) racked up more fantasy goodies--and he didn't score a touchdown with Washington the lone pay dirt finder on the day. Pittsburgh is facing the absolute worst defense against WRs in Tennessee's next Sunday after going against the second-worst this past TNF. Take advantage of it and use Washington if only for a single game.
