ANALYSIS: Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell’s injuries have turned the 49ers’ running back room on its head, but the team has found a way to make things work. As a result, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo is now second on the 49ers depth chart behind new starter Jordan Mason.

Taken in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Guerendo was an intriguing prospect in some dynasty football circles. He finds himself one injury away from being the 49ers RB1. That is a role always worth chasing in fantasy football.
Guerendo is now one of the top handcuffs in fantasy football and would be a hot waiver commodity if anything happens to Mason. If you’ve got an open roster spot, adding Guerendo is a good idea as it’s a classic “beat the waiver wire” type move.
A one-two percent bid should be enough to win him on waivers. However, he is not someone worth burning a top waiver claim on. View him as a lottery ticket who could hit big if the right situation presents itself.
