Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was tapped by many (including me) as a potential breakout candidate in 2023. It’s hard to become a star when a hamstring injury prevents you from seeing the field.
Watson has already missed one game to start the season and a second is in doubt as we move closer to Sunday afternoon. The sophomore sat out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday before getting in limited work on Friday. He is officially listed as questionable for Week 2.
Now in danger of missing a second week, can you trust Watson if he is able to play against Atlanta?
Should I Start Christian Watson If He Does Play In Week 2?
Hamstring injuries, like other soft tissue issues, have a high chance of reaggravation. Coaches get cautious, which we saw from Green Bay themselves in Week 1.
The other starting wide receiver, Romeo Doubs, put in one limited practice last week heading into the season opener. Coaches let him play but limited his snap count, even with a need for playmakers.

Doubs did score two touchdowns in that contest but more often than not, a receiver seeing that low of a snap share is not likely to provide a fantasy-relevant performance.
Watson is the kind of player who can give big fantasy numbers on limited snaps. He just needs a few touches to break off a long touchdown. According to PlayerProfiler.com, Watson led the league in fantasy points per target last season (2.52).
Still, if he's active and on a snap count, Watson is an extremely risky play and will be better suited on fantasy benches.
