Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Breakout CFB Performances From Week 9

Mike Marteny takes a look at 2022 breakout collegiate stars that will be available in your fantasy football dynasty drafts within the next year or two. Who should you keep an eye on?

We have a new piece here at RotoBaller to highlight those college football players that are turning heads at the collegiate level that could be playing for your favorite team, and fantasy team, sometime very soon. You don't want the first time you hear of a player being their name called at the NFL draft, right?

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Quarterbacks

Bo Nix, Oregon (27-35, 412 yards, 3TD at Cal)

Was Nix just not used right at Auburn? Was he in the wrong system? Was he trying too hard because he was a legacy? Those are pertinent questions after seeing the numbers he is putting up with Oregon. For the second consecutive week, Nix finds himself in this piece and firmly in the Heisman conversation. Who would have guessed after the opener against Oregon?

He did throw two interceptions in this game, but what lands Nix on the list this week (aside from the yardage) was the three rushing touchdowns. He accounted for 36 of Oregon's 42 points by himself. Nix showed off another skill for the pros in this one.

Honorable mention: Caleb Williams, USC; Drake Maye, North Carolina

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Running Backs

Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota (36 carries, 159 yards, 3TD vs. Rutgers)

Those who follow college football have known that Ibrahim is one of the best backs in this class for a while now. The only question we had was whether he would recover from the knee injury in the opener against Ohio State last year while he was carving up the Buckeyes.

It's safe to say Mo is back to normal. He has at least 100 rushing yards in every game that he's played this year and has 13 touchdowns in seven games. The pros are interested in whether he can make plays as a receiver out of the backfield, but he checks every other box. Watch him this weekend (noon eastern, ESPN2) and see how he runs. You'll know his game translates well to the next level.

Honorable mention: Zach Charbonnet, UCLA; Quinshon Judkins, Mississippi

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice, SMU (10 receptions, 180 yards, 2TD at Tulsa)

Rice again finds himself on this list. The numbers put him here on their own, but the NFL learned something more about this prospect. The first time Rice got on this list; long time quarterback Tanner Mordecai put him on here. With Mordecai hurt and backup Preston Stone leaving this game in the third quarter, Rice still caught passes, including his second touchdown (both of SMU's passing touchdowns on the day), from third-stringer Kevin Jennings. Rice's success doesn't seem to be tied to that of the quarterback, which is very important in today's NFL.

Honorable mention: Antoine Green, North Carolina; Dorian Singer, Arizona

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Tight Ends

Brock Bowers, Georgia (5 receptions, 154 yards, 1TD vs. Florida)

Bowers is inconsistent only because there are so many weapons on this Georgia team. The Bulldogs have used him as a blocker, receiver, fullback, and even a running back at times this year. Who knows where he'll end up in the pros?

Bowers has the size of a tight end but the athleticism of a receiver. He's not quite as prolific as Kyle Pitts was coming out of Florida, but Bowers still has one of year of college left. He could morph into that.

Honorable mention: Rivaldo Fairweather, Florida International
