Kevin Luchansky highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 10/3/18, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.
For whatever the reason, FanDuel is only running a one game slate, rather than combining today's game with tomorrow's Atlanta - Los Angeles game. So, what we have to work with here is just the contest between the visiting Athletics and host Yankees tonight in the Bronx. The Athletics - adopting from the Tampa Bay Rays - are going with "the opener" tonight in Liam Hendriks and the Yankees will roll the dice with Luis Severino.
Before the player selections, a real quick glance at Vegas lines. The Yankees, not too surpisingly, are the favorites tonight on the moneyline with a -175 line (opened at -180), making the Athletics +161 underdogs. As for implied run totals, the Yankees opened at 5.0 and moved down ever so slightly to 4.9, while the Athletics sit at 3.9 (up a notch from 3.8 at this morning's opening line).

FanDuel DFS Infielders
Keep in mind that pricing is much different on this type of slate. In addition to there being no pitchers available to roster, you only choose five roster slots - an MVP, an Infielder, an Outfielder and two Utility slots. Four of those slots are pretty straightforward, the fifth is the MVP slot. The MVP slot can make or break you in tournaments, as that player's point total will be multiplied by 1.5.
And a quick roster construction note - as mentioned, there are five slots and they come with a salary cap of $35,000 - giving you an average of $7,000 to spend on each slot.
Neil Walker - IF, vs OAK ($5,000)
Walker makes for a really nice cash saving value play, and he brings a good amount of upside to the plate as well. The switch-hitting infielder will be seeing pitches from the left side of the plate this year, where he'll have the platoon advantage. It's also the side of the plate that he's performed much better on, posting a .312 wOBA and a .152 ISO (+.091 and +.084, respectively, in differentials). And last but certainly not least, he's been making great contact with the ball, posting a 57% hard hit rate in his past 12 starts.
Luke Voit - IF, vs OAK ($8,000)
With the exception of Christian Yelich, not many players closed out the final two weeks of the season with more power production (and fantasy production overall) than Luke Voit. He has smashed his price implied total in five straight games and has the matchup to continue the trend tonight in Yankee Stadium. It certainly isn't the largest sample size, but what Voit has done at the MLB level in 2018 is impressive. He'll face a righty starter tonight, a grpup he's handled to the tune of a .433 wOBA and a .301 ISO. Those splits represent massive upside and he's also produced a 61% hard hit rate in the past 11 games.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Aaron Hicks - OF, vs OAK ($7,000)
Since the pair of suggestions I've doled out are towards the middle and end of the order, I'd like to get some exposure to the top of this potent Yankees lineup without breaking the bank. Hicks fits the description well, and we all know his .367 wOBA split (and lineup order) raise his value, but he also has home run upside, too (represented in a .203 ISO split).
Khris Davis - OF, at NYY ($8,500)
In a game where one swing can change the entire outcome of a GPP tournament, I want access to as many guys on these rosters that can do that to put me in a positive position to cash. Davis was without a doubt one of the best power hitters in the game this season, and he's getting a massive park upgrade tonight. He closed out the 2018 regular season with a massive .311 ISO as a reverse splits guy.
