DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/8/22): MLB DFS Lineups

Aaron Judge - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on September 8th, 2022. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Thursday and happy football season, RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate. After a small slate last week, we're unfortunately stuck with another tiny slate tonight, with three games on DraftKings and FanDuel. While it is nicer to have a large player pool on a decent-sized slate, small slates can be profitable if you have the edge. That's where I come in!

We do have no slate differences tonight, which is always great. It's easier to relay my lineup picks when I don't have to select guys who may be on one site's slate and not the other. Tonight's picks will be pretty condensed to the small slate, and with that being said, let's get right to it.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 6:45 pm on 9/8/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Dylan Cease, CWS at OAK ($9,600 DK, $10,800 FD)

I'll start off tonight's slate with Chicago right-hander Dylan Cease. Among the "stud" pitchers we have on tonight's slate, Cease is for sure in the most advantageous matchup. Cease projects to a 3.30 xFIP and a 33.49% strikeout rate tonight against the A's, who to their credit have been hitting the ball well lately, but still should be no match for potential AL Cy Young Cease. Cease is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA against the A's, including a six-inning, one-run performance in Chicago earlier this season where he struck out seven.

DraftKings Projection: 24.1

FanDuel Projection: 39.2

Sonny Gray, MIN at NYY ($6,800 DK, $8,600 FD)

For my value pitcher tonight, it's hard not to look at Sonny Gray. Gray seems to be a steal, particularly on DraftKings, due to his cheap pricing. I'm not opposed to doubling up on studs tonight due to it being a smaller slate, but if you're looking for a value arm, Gray is your guy. He projects to a 3.79 xFIP and 23.28% strikeout rate tonight. He hasn't started a game against the Yanks since 2017 and will look to exact some revenge against his former club this evening.

DraftKings Projection: 16.58

FanDuel Projection: 30.67

Also consider: Nestor Cortes, Sandy Alcantara

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Carlos Correa - SS, MIN vs. Nestor Cortes ($5,200 DK, $3,200 FD)

As far as hitters go, I'll start tonight's slate off with Carlos Correa. Correa has been solid in what will seemingly be his lone year in Minnesota, coming into this game with a .270 batting average and .786 OPS. He's hit lefties well on the season, and projects well against Cortes, with a projected 32.83% hard contact rate as well as a .627 wOBA + ISO against the southpaw's pitch types. He's had three plate appearances against Cortes in his career, going 1-2 with a walk.

DraftKings Projection: 10.12

FanDuel Projection: 12.85

Jose Abreu - 1B, CWS vs. JP Sears ($4,100 DK, $3,300 FD)

I'll look to the first of my White Sox tonight, former MVP Jose Abreu. Abreu has quietly had a very good year for the Pale Hose this season, hitting .309 with a .837 OPS on the year. Abreu, like most White Sox tonight, grades out very well against JP Sears tonight, with the slugger projected to a 42.76% hard contact rate and a .622 wOBA + ISO against Sears's pitch types.

DraftKings Projection: 9.35

FanDuel Projection: 11.81

Romy Gonzalez - 2B, CWS vs. JP Sears ($2,300 DK, $2,000 FD)

My second White Sox infielder tonight is Romy Gonzalez. Gonzalez has logged just 51 at-bats on the season, coming into this one hitting .294 with a .707 OPS. He projects to a 37.42% hard contact rate and a .502 wOBA + ISO against Sears's pitch types. While it isn't much, Gonzalez does offer a solid value infielder in a potential wraparound White Sox stack.

DraftKings Projection: 7.81

FanDuel Projection: 8.94

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Aaron Judge - OF, NYY vs. Sonny Gray ($6,400 DK, $5,100 FD)

On a small slate, how couldn't I get some shares of Aaron Judge tonight? Judge's batting average has once again eclipsed .300, as he comes into this one hitting .302 with a 1.085 OPS. He projects to a whopping 48.62% hard contact rate and a .840 wOBA + ISO against Sonny Gray's pitch types. He has faced Gray in the past, going 1-3 in just three plate appearances, but I have no trouble backing Judge here as he's aiming to hit 60 homers on the year.

DraftKings Projection: 13.93

FanDuel Projection: 16.76

Luis Robert - OF, CWS vs. JP Sears ($4,800 DK, $2,700 FD)

My third and final White Sox player tonight will be outfielder Luis Robert. Robert has battled injuries throughout the year, but comes into this one hitting .295 with a .774 OPS. He's projected to a 34.18% hard contact rate against Sears, as well as a .711 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. This will be the first time Robert faces Sears, but I'm confident in backing him due to his success against lefties this season (.547 wOBA + ISO).

DraftKings Projection: 11.03

FanDuel Projection: 13.84

Kyle Garlick - OF, MIN vs. Nestor Cortes ($2,300 DK, $2,100 FD)

I'll finish off the slate with probably my favorite value play, lefty-killer, Kyle Garlick. Garlick comes into this one hitting .264 with a .836 OPS. He's done most of his damage against lefties, coming into this one with a .682 wOBA + ISO against them. He projects to a 33.18% hard contact rate and a .570 wOBA + ISO against Cortes's pitch types. He's an optimal pairing with shortstop Carlos Correa and they'll both be in a lot of my lineups tonight.

DraftKings Projection: 7.56

FanDuel Projection: 9.93

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Chicago White Sox vs. JP Sears

Of course, I'll have to mention the White Sox here. From top to bottom they're clearly the top stack on the slate and have the most advantageous matchup tonight. They have a 59.43 stack rating, by far and away the best on the slate according to my model. This is for good reason, too, as the White Sox come into this one ranked 6th in OPS (.771), 5th in wOBA (.337), and 4th in wRC+ (121) against lefties.

Favorite Plays: Elvis Andrus, Andrew Vaughn, Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal, AJ Pollock, Luis Robert, Romy Gonzalez

Minnesota Twins vs. Nestor Cortes

I'll be backing the Minnesota Twins as my second favorite stack on the night. Now, there are other solid options here, the Marlins for example. However, I'd rather back the Twins offense than the Marlins offense, and that's just what I'll do. The Twins' stack I'll be looking at is rather concise, as I'm looking at four of the projected top six in the lineup. The Twins rank 15th in OPS (.711), 16th in wOBA (.313), and 14th in wRC+ (106) against southpaws.

Favorite Plays: Kyle Garlick, Carlos Correa, Jose Miranda, Gio Urshela

Also Consider: Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Marlins
