DraftKings Evening CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (9/9/23)

John Rhys Plumlee - CFB DFS Lineup Picks, Daily College Fantasy Football, NFL Draft

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the evening slate on Saturday (9/9/23). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

We have another action-packed prime-time slate for Week 2 of the 2023 season. There is another playoff game in Week 2 (I'm going to miss these) with Texas heading to Alabama in another top-10 matchup. Both LSU and Florida are licking their wounds by slumming against Grambling and McNeese State, respectively.

We have Central Florida heading up to the Smurf Turf to take on Boise. Oregon heads down to Lubbock for some hot weather, barbecue, and football. Wisconsin heads to the Paloose to take on Wazzu. UCLA heads down I-5 to take on the Aztecs. Charlotte heads up to College Park to take on the Terps. We end in Minneapolis with Eastern Michigan visiting for a cool September rain shower.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/9/23, locking at 7 PM Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

John Rhys Plumlee, Central Florida ($8,800)

Boise got gashed by a dual-threat quarterback last week in Michael Penix. Plumlee isn't quite as good of a deep thrower as Penix and he doesn't have the receivers, but he is very similar to Penix in other aspects. Plumlee had a monster game against Kent last week. It won't be quite as good against Boise, but I feel like the price has been adjusted accordingly.

Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland ($7,600)

Tagovailoa had a big game against Towson and is on track for another against Charlotte. The Charlotte pass defense stats are skewed by shutting down South Carolina State. There isn't even a little part of me that thinks Charlotte can handle Taulia. I expect another big game here at a very enticing price.

Taylen Green, Boise State ($6,200)

Green threw a couple of interceptions against Washington, but other than that, his game was pretty solid. UCF's defense won't be able to force Green into the same mistakes. I like him a good bit for the price. He still ran for 31 yards and threw for 244. Those are good numbers against one of the best defenses in the Pac.

Also consider: Jayden Daniels, LSU ($9,000); Tyler Shough, Texas Tech ($8,100); Jalen Mayden, San Diego State ($6,800); Dante Moore, UCLA ($6,000)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Bucky Irving, Oregon ($6,800)

Irving only carried the ball four times against Portland State. The end zone ended his runs twice. Irving will be well-rested for the tilt in Lubbock. Wyoming's offense got the run game going successfully against Tech, but it took a while. Oregon is patient enough to keep running no matter what. I  don't expect a ceiling game out of Irving, but I think he'll be good enough to pay off this price.

Chez Mellusi, Wisconsin ($5,700)

The carries were split pretty evenly for the Badgers and both backs were very successful. They probably won't be able to run the way that they did on Buffalo, but the Badgers alternated backs throughout the game. It wasn't a situation where Mellusi put up yards in garbage time. He was out there doing this while the game was still close. I'll take the $1,200 discount from Braelon Allen and use it to pay up at WR.

Ashton Jeanty, Boise State ($4,800)

George Holani is still the featured back. Nothing has changed there. However, Jeanty gets more carries than most backups and he is the most active back in the passing game. UCF's run defense was impressive in the opener. If they can lock down Boise the way that Washington did, expect Jeanty to have a major impact in the passing game once again.

Also consider: Montrell Johnson, Florida ($7,000); Roman Hemby, Maryland ($6,500); Jonathon Brooks, Texas ($5,400); Bryce Williams, Minnesota ($4,800)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

J. Michael Sturdivant, UCLA ($6,900)

The UCLA quarterback battle may be a bit of a mess, but Sturdivant succeeded with both quarterbacks at the helm. I like the fact that he can produce no matter who is throwing to him because I'm not sure that UCLA has decided on a quarterback and whoever does start will likely have a very short leash.

Daniel Jackson, Minnesota ($6,100)

Jackson was about the only successful DFS player in the opener from either team. Jackson made most of his hay on receptions alone. He caught nine passes in the win against Nebraska. I do question just how much Minnesota is going to throw in this one, but when they do, it will likely be to Jackson.

Josh Kelly, Washington State ($5,400)

Kelly caught seven of eight targets in his Washington State debut. This isn't quite the air raid that the Cougars had up until 2021, but it is a more pass-based attack. Kelly dazzled in the opener and is going to be a very big part of the offense going forward.

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas ($3,700)

Sanders only caught two of his six targets from Quinn Ewers against Rice, but he did find the end zone. I'm not too concerned since the target share was high for the price range. Sanders doesn't usually drop passes like he did for a couple of those. He's going to be a heavy target against Alabama, and I expect him to catch more than not this time around.

Also consider: Malik Nabers, LSU ($7,200); Ricky Pearsall, Florida ($6,800); Jerand Bradley, Texas Tech ($5,900); Xavier Townsend, Central Florida ($5,400); Will Pauling, Wisconsin ($5,100); Lincoln Victor, Washington State ($4,700); Corey Dyches, Maryland ($3,800); Jonathan Odom, Florida ($3,300)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

LSU

The Tigers are going to smash Grambling. The tough part about this is guessing right on which players will have big games. Nabers and Daniels will have the ball in their hands enough that they should make an impact no matter what. Brian Thomas had the big plays against Florida State. Tre Bradford was the only successful back, but Noah Cain and Josh Williams are still ahead of him on the depth chart. I do like Bradford on the cheap here since he should get enough run. Just about everyone else is a risk though.

Florida

This is another game that shouldn't be much of a contest. There are a lot of Florida players with something to prove after being dominated by Utah. Johnson and Trevor Etienne are going to see enough carries to both be worth using. The price on Caleb Douglas jumped enough for me to pass. I'll take the more explosive guy in Pearsall for only $400 more. Jonathan Odom is listed as a starter for Week 2 at just $3,300.

Also consider: Maryland, Minnesota
