ANALYSIS: Desmond Ridder entered the 2023 NFL season with high expectations after finishing his rookie year with two consecutive wins, recording a 99.8 Passer Rating in those games. Ridder was named the starter as the Falcons hoped that he would be their next franchise QB after Matt Ryan.
Ridder got off to a pretty slow start. Apart from a good performance in Week 2 against the Packers where he finished as the QB10, his performances were far from impressive and he ranked as the QB28 after the first four weeks of the season.

However, Ridder has finally put together a solid string of performances and is now looking like a viable fantasy option. He threw for 329 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score in a win against Houston while throwing for 307 yards, two touchdowns, and three picks in a loss against Washington.
Aggressive gunslingers are typically rewarded in fantasy football, and Ridder's play has culminated in him finishing as the overall QB3 over the last two weeks. Ridder might not be the best football player right now, but he is still a good option in fantasy and won't get benched anytime soon as HC Arthur Smith praised him after the game against Washington.
He will face the Bucs in Week 7 and he might struggle against the formidable Bucs defense, but his next three games before the Bye week are against the Titans, Vikings, and Cardinals. The Titans are experts at shutting down the run game, which will force Ridder to throw the ball, while the Vikings and Cardinals both have soft defenses. He will have three very difficult games after the Bye (Saints, Jets, Bucs), but also three very easy games after that against the Panthers, Colts, and Bears. Overall, Ridder will have six more easy games this year and can be a good streaming option.
