BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 20% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The idea of considering Derek Carr a great QB--let alone a superstar--is a little farfetched. And winning a game against mighty Kansas City is not going to change that perception. But. I have to say that I have always liked Carr's fantasy upside as a solid role player, a must-have player for 2QB fantasy GMs, and a potential good-matchup QB1 here and there on occasion. He just proved so this past weekend against the Chiefs, as he's been doing all year long.
Carr had his best game of the season--fantasy and real-life wise--on Sunday. He completed the lowest rate of passes in any of his 2020 games (71%) connecting on 22 of the 31 times he attempted to. That being said, though, he threw 3 TDs (tied season-high) against just one interception (his first one of 2020), and even added one yard rushing! Jokes aside, Carr's numbers have been nice with a combined 11 touchdowns against just a lone interception, and 239+ passing yards in every game for an average of 288 per game through W5. His only concerning problem is the ball protection, as he leads all QBs with 5 fumbles already.
Five games into the season, Carr is currently the QB18 in fantasy points per game. Again, not a weekly QB1 but definitely a great player to have rostered in 2QB leagues and a spot-starter if you're streaming the position and find him for free. Las Vegas is on a bye for W6, which means you should pass on him in any non-2QB format. I'd suggest taking advantage of potential drops/cuts of Carr in 2QB leagues, though, as three of his next four games will be against defenses ranked 22nd or worst in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs.
