Davis Mills is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for quarterbacks. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 15 of the 2021 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB/Superflex Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Don't even bother looking at past performance in comparison to defensive rank against fantasy QBs when it comes to assessing Davis Mills' value. He's just been all over the place, this guy. That said, though, he has been named the Texans starter ROS with four games to go (three for those in normal fantasy leagues) and he still has a top-tier talent playing for him in WR Brandin Cooks.
Mills has started 7 of the 9 games he's played this season for Houston. As I said in the paragraph above, those yielded all sorts of results, with FP scores ranging from minus-1.3 (yes, you read that right) in Week 4 to a season-high 24.7 one week later. Absolute madness, I know. Mills has alternated 20+ FP games with below-10 FP ones. It's a little bit frustrating because Mills has clearly shown a solid ceiling, but Mills has also sat at a rather low floor multiple times.
Even though Houston is facing two top-10 defenses against fantasy QBs next, the truth is that Mills had two of his best games of the year against the second- and seventh-best such defenses, so there's that. Mills is coming off an 18-FP outing against Seattle in which he attempted and completed season-high passes (33-of-49), bested his prior-highest passing yardage (331), and threw a touchdown against no interceptions. Risky play and a definitive flier, but nothing crazy when it comes to a secondary option in 2QB/Superflex formats when it comes to the fantasy postseason. Only make sure your QB1 is a lock to get his fair amount (28+) of fantasy points, just in case.
