ANALYSIS: Unrostered. Literally unrostered. That was Darius Slayton for you entering the last one, but most probably not entering any of the next games played by the New York Giants this season unless he got injured. Keyword: injured.
See, that's the problem with Slayton and the main reason he's never truly exploded as a fantasy asset. He's played 14, 16, and 13 games over the past three years but only once (2020) did he appear in double-digit matchups over a full campaign.
Also, and this obviously another reason why he's gone so under the radar this summer, and up until Week 5, Slayton has never been a true weekly WR2/WR3, let alone an elite-level pass-catcher. but he provides some numbers and comes with upside given the Giants' precarious receiving situation.
New York used Slayton along with Marcus Johnson, Richie James, and David Sills V last Sunday. Missing were Sterling Shepard (out for the season), Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay, and Wan'Dale Robinson. Just last week Johnson was a simple practice-squad dummy.
This pick might be the biggest flier of the week, but if it hits, it might hit. Slayton at least has the experience and years of play next to Daniel Jones, whatever that means. Not the worst of free gambles to take by deeeeep league managers at this point if you ask me.
