BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Let's make things clear here: New England's offense stinks quite a bit. Not even veteran Julian Edelman (49.6 PPR over four games) is producing good numbers at just 12.4 PPG. Second-year man N'Keal Harry is the second-best WR at just 38.8 PPR so far, and then comes Damiere Byrd (30.9) at the position. The Patriots are rushing more than passing, and the receiving corps are definitely suffering the aftermath of flipping Tom Brady's profile for Cam Newton's.
The fact that New England only has one trustworthy receiver (Edelman) make Byrd a great WW target as he could very well be the WR2 of the team any week. And in fact, Byrd leads all Patriots in snaps with 248 followed by TE Ryan Izzo (240). No other player is above 215 (N'Keal Harry).
While Byrd had a horrid start to the year (no targets, no rushing attempts, one fumble!), he has improved since then to finish with 13.2, 5.7, and 13.0 PPR points in the last three weeks. Considering how absolutely atrocious both replacement-QBs were for the Pats this past Monday, it is amazing that Bird had his most productive game of the year in W4 racking up 80 yards on 5 receptions and a season-high 10 targets (led the team).
Even if you don't trust Byrd with Cam Newton out, he's definitely on a prime spot to hit once more and reach 15+ PPR points next week. The Patriots face Denver, which ranks 28th at preventing fantasy points from WRs this season. New England goes on a bye after that, so you can make Byrd a one-off acquisition, put him in your FLEX, ride with him for a week, and then drop him. You can do much worse than this, believe me.
