BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 14% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh's pecking order at the receiver position is far from a headache: there is JuJu Smith-Schuster, then there is Diontae Johnson, and finally we'd have James Washington (judging by snaps played, that is). With a WR4 role and battling Washington for reps is rookie Chase Claypool. And given how the season has developed so far, it'd make sense for the Steelers to flip those two roles sooner rather than later.
Claypool is averaging 9.0 PPR in three games to Washington's 8.4, both have a touchdown, but Claypool is clearly outperforming Washington as the rookie has 151 yards on 6/9 receptions compared to Washington's 92 yards in 10/15. This last weekend wasn't the best for Claypool, who only caught one of his four targets, but still racked up 24 yards on it showcasing his big-play upside.
The best about Claypool's chances of scoring big-time fantasy points going forward? His snaps have gone from 19 to 24 to 61 in W3, and Diontae Johnson had to leave Sunday's game with a concussion. That should keep Diontae out of the field at least for this weekend, although we still don't know about his status.
Keep an eye on the injury reports through the week, because if Johnson loses time Claypool would be next in line. If that is the case, he should be a good WR3/FLEX play in deeper leagues against Tennessee (only 19th-best against fantasy WRs). Also, if any other WR from the Steelers gets injured the schedule looks very tasty for Claypool, as Pitt will face the 23rd, 27th-, and 18th-best (all bottom-half) defenses against the position before its Week 8 bye.
