FAAB Waiver Wire Bidding - Fantasy Baseball Pickups to Target for Week 23 (September 1 - September 7)

Carlos Rodon To Throw In Extended Spring Training Games

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (shoulder) will begin throwing in extended spring training games Monday. Rodon has been progressing well and is targeting June as his return date. He is worth stashing if owners have the roster space to do so.

Chris Owings Diagnosed With Head Contusion

Arizona Diamondbacks utility man Chris Owings was diagnosed with a head contusion following a collision with A.J. Pollock on Thursday. Manager Torey Lovullo says that Owings avoided a concussion and will be day-to-day while he is re-evaluated. If he misses any time, Jarrod Dyson would be the main beneficiary of increased playing time.

Eddie Butler Lands On 10-Day Disabled List, Luke Farrell Called Up

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Eddie Butler (groin) has landed on the disabled list with a right groin strain. Butler has been operating in long relief for the Cubs and doesn’t hold fantasy value. Relief pitcher Luke Farrell has been promoted to take his spot on the roster and can be avoided in all formats.

Justus Sheffield Strikes Out Eight Batters Thursday

New York Yankees pitching prospect Justus Sheffield went six innings, allowing two runs and striking out eight batters Thursday night for Double-A Trenton. The left-hander is now 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA over his first three starts. Sheffield has 22 strikeouts in 16 innings but has been hurt with 10 walks. Sheffield has strong upside […]

James Shields Will Start Friday Versus Astros

The Chicago White Sox have named James Shields Friday’s starter versus the Houston Astros. Shields went two-thirds of an inning and suffered the loss out of the bullpen Wednesday versus the Oakland Athletics. Shields should be avoided Friday and should be on the waiver wire in most mixed formats.

Matt Davidson Won’t Be In Friday’s Lineup

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Matt Davidson will be on the bench Friday versus the Houston Astros. Catcher Welington Castillo will be Friday’s designated hitter and catcher Omar Narvaez will bat eighth and be behind the plate. Davidson got off to a hot start but is now four for his last 29.

Dexter Fowler Not in Friday's Starting Lineup

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Harrison Bader will be playing right field and batting seventh for the start of the Cardinals' three-game series against their division rivals. Fowler is off to a slow start in 2018, hitting just .176/.269/.294 in 17 […]

Tommy Pham Back in the Lineup for Friday's Game

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham (groin) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Pham will play center field and bat first. The outfielder did not start Thursday's game, but did appear as a pinch hitter. He hurt himself near the end of Wednesday's contest, but was forced to remain […]

Drew Pomeranz Activated For Friday Start

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz (forearm) was activated from the disabled list and will start Friday against the Athletics. Pomeranz has a career 1.80 ERA against Oakland. Stream him where you can in head-to-head leagues. In rotisserie leagues, be cautious about using your innings on his first start back.

Danny Duffy to Start Saturday in Detroit

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy will hope to keep his good run of form going when he takes the mound in Detroit on Saturday. Duffy has given up just one earned run in his last 11 1/3 innings, striking out 15. In his career, Duffy has a 3.40 ERA across eight starts and […]

Salvador Perez Could Return Earlier Than Expected

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (knee) threw out two base runners in his rehab start at Triple-A on Thursday. Afterwards, Perez told reporters he felt good and should be back soon. It is now looking increasingly like Perez will return Monday for the Royals series against the Brewers. The Royals enter Friday at 3-13 […]

Andrew Benintendi Finally Gets First HR

Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi hit his first homer Thursday night against the Angels. Benintendi hit a solo shot in the sixth inning against Nick Tropeano. He finished the night going 2-for-5 with three RBI. Benintendi has started heating up and in the last week has a .333 average with eight RBI, two doubles, […]

Jaime Barria Likely to Start for Angels on Sunday

It looks like Los Angeles Angels rookie starter Jaime Barria will be called up to start Sunday's game, according to a post on his Instagram account. Barria was recalled to make his big league debut back on April 11. He did very well, tossing five innings and only giving up one run. It looks like […]

Blue Jays Activate Kendrys Morales

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated designated Kendrys Morales (hamstring) from the 10-day disabled list. Morales was suffering from a hamstring strain but only ended up missing the minimum amount of time. Morales’ playing time situation remains unclear, however. With Curtis Granderson admirably filling in as designated hitter and recently called up outfielder Teoscar Hernandez lighting […]

Eduardo Rodriguez Has Quality Start Against Angels

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, in his third start since coming off the disabled list, picked up a quality start in an 8-2 win against the Angels on Thursday. He ended the night in six innings with five strikeouts and allowed two runs and three walks. He has a favorable matchup against Toronto […]

Luke Weaver Torched for Six Runs on Thursday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Luke Weaver was torched by the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk in just four innings. Coming into the game, Weaver had only given up four runs total in 17 1/3 innings of work, so Thursday was by far his worst start of […]

Kevin Pillar’s Hitting Streak Ends

It seems like every year Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar goes on an extended hitting streak of some kind at some point. This year, he may have gotten it out of the way early. Pillar finished 0-for-3 against the New York Yankees on Thursday, ending his hitting streak at a cool nine games. Over […]

Nick Tropeano Roughed Up in Loss

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Nick Tropeano, making his second start of the season, was roughed up by the Red Sox. He allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out three. The Red Sox offense is absolutely on fire, and Tropeano got caught up in the barrage. Tropeano could be a solid […]

Blue Jays Call Up Lourdes Gurriel

The Toronto Blue Jays are calling up shortstop Lourdes Gurriel from Double-A New Hampshire on Friday. You may recognize the last name -- Lourdes is the younger brother of Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel. Gurriel actually makes for an interesting fantasy prospect at a position many owners could use help at. Through 12 games […]

Mike Napoli Done For the Year With a Torn ACL

Cleveland Indians first baseman/designated hitter Mike Napoli (knee) is done for the year after suffering a torn right ACL and meniscus. Napoli was playing at Triple-A Columbus when he suffered the injury. He will undergo surgery soon and won't be able to play again until the 2019 season. Napoli signed a minor league contract with Cleveland […]

Tommy Pham Appears as a Pinch Hitter on Thursday

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham (groin) had an at-bat as a pinch hitter on Thursday, flying out. Fantasy owners were happy to see Pham get in the game, proving that he was indeed "fine" as he had said himself. Pham injured his groin on Wednesday but was forced to finish out the game because […]

Teoscar Hernandez To Remain In Majors

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez will reportedly remain in the Major Leagues, even with the impeding return of designated hitter Kendrys Morales from the disabled list on Friday. The thought all along was that Hernandez would be sent back down once Morales returned, but he has simply played too well for a demotion. Through […]

Derek Law Demoted

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Derek Law has been sent down to Triple-A. Law was recently promoted to help the club eat up some innings in the bullpen, but he is no longer needed. Law gave up three runs (two earned) in two appereances. His demotion will open up a roster spot for Friday’s starter […]

Victor Martinez Notches Third Multi-Hit Game in Four Days

Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez had himself a nice little series against Baltimore, and it's part of a larger stretch of nice games for the veteran slugger. Martinez notched two hits Thursday, and it was the third time in four days that he had a multi-hit effort. Martinez has now hit safely in five […]

Jeimer Candelario Wraps Up Big Series With Four Hits

Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario absolutely dominated the Baltimore Orioles throughout their three-game set. In the series, Candelario was 8-for-12 with two homers and five RBI, bringing his season line to .284/.360/.556 with three home runs and eight RBI. Thursday's game was the most impressive of the three, as Candelario collected four hits and […]

Chad Bell Optioned, Warwick Saupold and Mike Gerber Called Up

The Detroit Tigers have made a series of roster moves in preparation for Friday's doubleheader with Kansas City. Reliever Chad Bell has been sent to Triple-A Toledo and fellow relief arm Warwick Saupold has been recalled. In addition, the Tigers have called up outfield prospect Mike Gerber. Bell and Saupold are essentially non-factors from a […]

Matt Harvey Not Guaranteed to Remain in Rotation

After New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey allowed six runs and eight hits over six innings in a loss to the Braves, manager Mickey Callaway stated that he is uncertain whether Harvey would make his next start. The pitcher formerly known as the Dark Knight has been abysmal all season, pitching to an 0-2 […]

Mac Williamson Will Be Promoted Friday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson will be promoted prior to Friday’s contest versus the Angels. Williamson has been an absolute hitting machine in Triple-A with a .487 batting average and six home runs in 39 at-bats. He is worth monitoring but will likely split time with Gregor Blanco and Gorkys Hernandez with Hunter Pence […]

Travis Shaw Quietly Having Good Season

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and three walks in the 12-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Despite not tearing the cover off the ball for home runs like he usually does, Shaw has been quietly having a solid season. With the three walks on Thursday, he now […]

Ryan Braun Delivers Pinch-Hit Home Run For 1000th Career RBI

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun (calf) came off the bench and hit a three-run home run in the 12-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Braun sat this game out due to a lingering calf injury, however, his hitting did not look hindered at all. This home run also was a milestone, as he reached 1,000 […]
