BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 22% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It is hard to get enamored of Ben Roethlisberger these days, even more, if you only pay attention to hot-take Twitter. But Big Ben has been more than a capable quarterback for the 2021 fantasy season, and in fact, he's coming off his third top-12 game in the past four weeks at the quarterback position. That's right, folks. Ben has been a QB1 in three of the four games he's played after missing W10 and that shouldn't change ROS. Snath some shares before it's too late.
Roethlisberger started the season slow with four consecutive games in which he only threw 1 TD in each and also 4 combined INTs. He never topped 15 FP in none of those four outings, but he slowly but surely started to get things right from that W5 on. Since then, Big Ben has thrown 15 touchdowns against just 3 interceptions, is averaging 16.7 FPPG, and has raised the bar to an impressive 18.9 FPPG in the past four weeks (average 39-25-270-2 passing line).
It's hard to trust Ben as a bona fide QB1 ROS even though he's done it for three of the past four weeks. We're better off taking a cautious approach and having him as a nice high-end QB2, thus the recommendation for those in 2QB/14+ Team formats. That said, the Steelers are facing the second- and fourth-worst defenses against fantasy QBs in the next two weeks (first two fantasy postseason games) so you might want to let Big Ben ride your squad to the championship game, don't you?
