BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Early last week, on Monday, the Carolina Panthers decided to waive and release QB Baker Mayfield after trading for him this last summer. Injuries and (mostly) bad play ended with his days of donning black and blue threads.
That didn't prevent teams from chasing the veteran passer, with San Francisco and Los Angeles Rams turning into his best options and the latter ultimately claiming him on Tuesday.
In a week in which the Rams coincidentally played on TNF, there were little to no expectations of watching Mayfield perform for his new team. Welp, color us all wrong. Mayfield didn't start the game against Las Vegas but entered the field in the second possession of the game replacing injured starter John Wolford.
Mayfield, playing his first game as a Ram and having two days to study the playbook, completed 22 of 35 passes for 230 yards while throwing 1 TD and no picks at all. Uh, oh, Baker Mayfield for you folks. Of course, it's hard to believe this will be a weekly type of outcome considering Mayfield's recent past in a team with pretty much the same offensive talent available for him to weaponize in Carolina.
The Rams are out until Monday so Mayfield will have time (though he might not actually need it?) to get deeper into LA's playbook. Don't add Baker if you have any viable quarterback around in your roster because TNF might have actually been a trap. That said, make sure to grab some shares of this man for your 2QB/Superflex teams.
