Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Cubs Will Decide On Thursday If Yu Darvish Will Return

A decision will be made on Thursday about Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) and if he will return to the rotation this weekend versus the Twins. Cueto pitched great in his first rehab start and was off to a hot start with the Giants prior to landing on the disabled list. Cueto is expected […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Throws Bullpen Session Tuesday

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. (shoulder) threw another bullpen session on Tuesday. If Edwards feels well, the next step could be for him to pitch in a rehab game. Edwards remains a good source for holds and strikeouts.

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (shoulder) has been placed on the disabled list with a sore shoulder. Bryant has missed the past three games and his time on the disabled list will be retroactive to June 23. Ben Zobrist and Ian Happ will both get more at-bats with Bryant out and Tommy La Stella […]

The Cubs offense […]

Yu Darvish Does Not Feel 100 Percent

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) said he does not feel 100 percent in the triceps area. Darvish will meet the Cubs in Los Angeles Tuesday to discuss […]

Yu Darvish Could Return This Weekend

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) could return this weekend if he feels well after Monday’s rehab start. Darvish had a nice start Monday and struck out five batters while allowing just one run on three hits and no walks. More should be known on if Darvish will pitch this weekend as the club […]

Kris Bryant Unlikely To Be Placed On The Disabled List

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Monday that it's possible but unlikely that third baseman Kris Bryant (shoulder) will need a trip to the disabled list. Bryant will be sidelined for his third straight game on Monday. It’s good news for Bryant owners and it appears that he could return soon.

Tyler Chatwood Placed On Paternity List

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood has been placed on the paternity list on Monday. Chatwood’s wife recently gave birth and Chatwood is expected to be away from the team until Friday. Chatwood has escaped a lot of jams this season, but due to his high walk rate, Chatwood can be avoided for now outside […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Threw A Bullpen Session Sunday

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Sunday. Edwards is likely to need one more bullpen session before he returns. Edwards remains a nice option for owners looking for holds and help with ratio categories.

Brandon Morrow Throws Bullpen Session Monday

Chicago Cubs closer Brandon Morrow (back) will throw a bullpen session on Monday. Morrow is eligible to be activated on Wednesday, but it is unclear at this time if he will return then. The Cubs bullpen has struggled of late and could use the help of Morrow. There should be a clearer timetable on Morrow’s […]

Duane Underwood Will Start Monday

The Chicago Cubs have announced that Duane Underwood will start and make his major league debut Monday versus the Dodgers. Underwood is 3-7 with a 4.43 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 14 games (13 starts) for Triple-A Iowa. Underwood will face a tough Dodgers lineup and is likely to be sent down after tomorrow’s start.

Johnny Cueto Feels Good After Rehab Start

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (elbow) came out of Saturday's rehab start without pain and said he just wants to pitch one more rehab start. Cueto was excellent on Saturday and if everything goes well in his next rehab start, Cueto could return in early July.

Yu Darvish Will Make Rehab Start On Monday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) will make his first rehab start on Monday for Low-A South Bend. Darvish has missed around a month with a tricep issue, but has thrown a few bullpen sessions and has looked good in those. Darvish may need more than one rehab start, but it sounds like he […]

Ian Happ Makes Third Career Start At Third Base

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ will make his third career start at third base on Sunday. Third baseman Kris Bryant (shoulder) is sidelined for the second consecutive day with a sore shoulder. Dylan Covey Exits Saturday’s Start Early

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Covey exited Saturday’s start with an unknown ailment. Covey exited after walking Matt Joyce to start the top of the fifth inning. Jeff Samardzija Will Make Another Rehab Start On Tuesday

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) will make another rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Sacramento. Javier Baez Will Sit On Saturday
