Alexander Mattison fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 8 (2024). Should you start or sit Alexander Mattison for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit if you can
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3/RB4
ANALYSIS: Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison is an inefficient running back (3.62 yards per carry) on a losing team (2-5) with a depleted roster -- starting QB Aidan O'Connell (thumb) is on injured reserve, WR1 Davante Adams left for the New York Jets, and WR2 Jakobi Meyers (ankle) missed practice Thursday.
Alexander Mattison can be used in deeper leagues or if you are flat out desperate at the RB position.
It starts with Bowers, then Meyers, but I think Mattison can have some decent RB2 weeks thanks to his pass catching ability.
Zamir White ain’t it.

In many matchups, he's a decent start. But the Raiders face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. They allow just 14 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing running backs, which is the least in the NFL by a significant margin. This should be the ugliest game for Las Vegas' offense this season.
The Kansas City Chiefs defense has allowed points on just 15/61 drives this season (24.6%)
It ranks 2nd in the NFL 💪 pic.twitter.com/kBHVhmHySa

This is a matchup you probably want to avoid. Mattison's best chance at fantasy relevance is through receptions in PPR formats, and while it's plausible he could have quite a few, the matchup is just too scary.
Yes, his backfield mate Zamir White has not played well this season, but that doesn't mean the Raiders won't stubbornly return to a committee backfield when he's back to full health. Sit Mattison this week.
