Top Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 9: DeVante Parker, Jamal Agnew, Rashod Bateman, Tajae Sharpe

Darnell Mooney - fantasy football rankings news NFL DFS lineup picks

Justin Carter's fantasy football wide receiver waiver wire pickups for Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season. His free agent WRs to add, stream and stash off waivers.

Another week of NFL action is behind us. Are there any players left on the waiver wire wasteland? Let's find out. Below, you'll find some wideouts that you should be targeting on the waiver wire ahead of Week 9.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Be sure to also check out our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 9 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 50% rostered or below.

Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears

42% rostered

Well, I think it's time that we make this official: Darnell Mooney is the WR1 in Chicago. He had over twice as many targets this week as Allen Robinson, with nine to Robinson's four. Mooney caught six passes for 64 yards, the second time in three games that he caught five or more passes. There's not a ton of upside in the Bears passing game, but Mooney is getting some volume, making him a solid injury replacement in most formats.

Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders

42% rostered

The Raiders were on a bye this week, so I'm just going to copy and paste what I wrote about him last week:

Oh look, another week of Hunter Renfrow getting eight targets, making this the fourth time this year he's seen at least that many. There's a pretty low cap on his yards, as just twice has he exceeded 58, but he's a solid full PPR play. (Worth noting: he's on a bye next week, but then he has the Giants and Chiefs up after that. Hmm.)

We're past the bye, so now it's time for the Giants and Chiefs!

Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers

36% rostered

Cobb is really tough to figure out. He had two touchdowns last week, but also only had three catches for 15 yards. Davante Adams and Allen Lazard missed that game because they were on the COVID list, so they'll...probably???...be back this week? Cobb is someone to keep in mind. He can get chances if the injury situation in Green Bay continues to be an issue. I don't know. I had to mention him here, even if the situation in Green Bay means he likely just had his best game of the season.

DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins

34% rostered

Playing for the first time since Week 4, Parker was targeted a season-high 11 times, catching eight of them for 85 yards. That was his best yardage total of the season, and with the Dolphins passing attack looking better as the season goes along, Parker feels like someone who needs to be rostered in most formats going forward because of his volume. Parker has at least seven targets in every game that he's played.

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens

30% rostered

Like Renfrow, Bateman was on a bye last week, so I'll just repeat what I said about him before the bye:

I was all in on Bateman this week as a breakout player, and while it didn't really happen, he did get targeted six times, catching three of those passes for 80 yards. He now has 12 targets in two career games. He has a bye next week, so adding him now would mean holding him through the bye week. You might not need to prioritize him, but he does have a nice schedule moving forward.

We're past the bye, so pick him up!

Jamison Crowder, New York Jets

19% rostered

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Mike White Jets looked pretty good. The offense was actually moving down the field, and the team ended up beating the Bengals. Was Zach Wilson the problem? (I'm not getting sidetracked on that rhetorical question, but I really wish I could.) With competent quarterback play, Jamison Crowder was looking like Jamison Crowder, turning nine targets into eight catches for 84 yards and a two-point conversion.

Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts

5% rostered

With Parris Campbell on IR and T.Y. Hilton banged up and playing a lesser role, Pascal saw eight targets on Sunday, catching five passes for 43 yards. He has 14 targets over the past two games, and he has the Jets and Jaguars on deck. These are good matchups for Pascal. He can be a good streaming play.

Jamal Agnew, Jacksonville Jaguars

2% rostered

Y'all ready to finally roster Agnew? He was targeted 12 times this week, more than Marvin Jones Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. combined. He caught six of those for 38 yards and a score. Agnew has seen a huge increase in usage over the past three games, to the point that it really looks like Agnew has become Trevor Lawrence's top target. Sure, this week's touchdown was in garbage time, but garbage time touchdowns count the same in fantasy as normal touchdowns.

Tajae Sharpe, Atlanta Falcons

0% rostered

Calvin Ridley is stepping away from football for now, leaving a void at receiver for the Falcons. I would have thought that Russell Gage or Olamide Zaccheaus would have filled that role, but the two combined for one target this week. Cordarrelle Patterson is getting more targets out of the backfield, but of the team's actual wide receivers, it was Sharpe who led the way with six targets. Will he matter in fantasy? I don't know, but in a deep, deep league, he's worth a shot.
