Kyle Larson never got up to full speed at Talladega in the spring. A piece of metal was stuck in the manifold near his engine. It eventually caused the engine to blow, and Larson had to retire after just three laps. Things have not gone well for the Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. He has four DNFs in his last five races there and just two top-10 results in his career. This is the first time he is starting in the top 10 (fifth). Maybe that keeps him out of the fray of crashes. That is the hope. He had one of the fastest cars last week before pit strategy knocked him out of contention. The No. 5 needs a result this week.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
