Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Sunday 5/23

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 5/23/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to give your pitching staff a lift because Gerrit Cole got smoked earlier this week, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

It's ace day. Seven pitchers are more than 90% owned and nine more are over 50%. That leaves only 14 in our pool, and most of them are struggling or have bad matchups. This is not a good streaming day for pitching, which is unfortunate because I know many of us are still looking to steal a category or two.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 5/23 - Shallow Leagues

Joc Pederson (OF, LHB, CHC) - 45.6% Rostered

Matchup: at STL RHP Adam Wainwright

See? I told you the power would come! Pederson's homer Friday night was just his second of the season, but he now has 8 RBI to go with that slick .400 average since May 5. Pederson was held in check last night, but he has plenty of value as long as he's leading off in this lineup. Pederson scored another run last night, giving him three in the first two games of this series. It's another middling righty on the mound for the Cardinals followed by a middling bullpen. Pederson is a strong streaming option again.

Alex Kiriloff (OF, LHB, MIN) - 37.4% Rostered

Matchup: at CLE RHP Zach Plesac

He's back! Kiriloff is 3-8 with two runs scored and three RBI in his return from a wrist injury that kept him out almost three weeks. Kiriloff doesn't look rusty at all. Meanwhile, Plesac has been roughed up by the Angels and Mariners in his last two starts, which are two of the worst offenses in the American League. The fact that Kiriloff is so low owned is ridiculous. Go fix this please. He's too good to be in this article anymore.

Josh Harrison (2B/3B, RHB, WAS) - 31.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. BAL RHP Matt Harvey

Harrison's slam is going to get him some notoriety on waivers today, and for good reason. After all, he is hitting .316 in the last week and .309 on the season. Harrison doesn't have a ton of power, but he will help your average. This is a great matchup against Matt Harvey, who went off the rails a bit against the Rays earlier this week. Some of the velocity is back, but Harvey still gives up too much contact in general and hard contact in particular to be consistently effective anymore. Take advantage of that with some bats that are heating up.

Brian Anderson (3B, RHB, MIA) - 26.7% Rostered

Matchup: vs. NYM RHP Jordan Yamamoto

Anderson had some rust when he returned to the lineup on May 8, but he has finally shaken it off. He has a modest six-game hit streak going on with a homer and two steals in those games. Yamamoto, who started his career with the Marlins, has a career ERA near 7. Yes, he has potential, but he hasn't tapped into it yet. Anderson's combination of speed and power to go along with a good average is a solid waiver find here.

Hitter Streamers for 5/23 - Deep Leagues

Michael Taylor (OF, RHB, KC) - 18.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. DET RHP Casey Mize

Taylor didn't homer yesterday, but he still picked up another hit, run, and RBI to keep his hot streak going. It's going to be tougher here against Mize, but hot streaks for Taylor don't come along often. These are two teams that have scored liberally in this series. Grab Taylor to see if he can extend his five-game hit streak here.

Freddy Galvis (SS, SHB, BAL) - 16.7% Rostered

Matchup: vs. WAS LHP Patrick Corbin

Galvis has two homers and four RBI in the last four games. He also hits lefties 21 points higher in his career. This Baltimore team as a whole rips left-handed pitching and have all year. Throw a struggling guy like Corbin out there, and this could be a big game for Baltimore bats. The good news for us is that many of them are available in leagues of larger than 12 teams. This is the time to pick those guys up. We can get rid of them tomorrow.

Jacob Stallings (C, RHB, PIT) - 10.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. ATL LHP Max Fried

Stallings is looking comfortable at the plate of late with three of his four homers on the season coming since May 10. Fried has pitched well of late, but with the way Stallings is hitting lately, he's worth chasing a homer on waivers. I like him beyond this series anyway.

Amed Rosario (SS/OF, RHB, CLE) - 7.3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. MIN LHP J.A. Happ

Happ is a guy that pitches to contact and doesn't strike anyone out. Rosario is 5-9 with a homer in his career against Happ from when they were in the N.L. East together. It should be old hat for Rosario here. Happ is getting worse by the start and giving up a ton of fly balls of late. Rosario has a great chance of parking one in the cheap seats here.

Pitcher Streamer for 5/23 - Shallow Leagues

Casey Mize (RHP, DET) - 36.4% rostered

Matchup: at Kansas City

Mize had his best career start against the Mariners earlier this week, giving up only one run in 7.2 innings while striking out seven. The Royals touched Mize up back on April 23, but has much less success on May 12. Mize is getting better by the start it seems. He has only allowed four runs over his last three starts combined. There's a lot to like about Mize here. We know about the strikeout potential, but he has only allowed nine hits (one homer) in his last 19.2 innings pitched. Now, about those walks.....

Pitcher Streamer for 5/23 - Deep Leagues

Kris Bubic (LHP, KC) - 11.3% Rostered

Matchup: at Detroit

The Tigers have been hitting well lately, but that's almost exclusively against right-handed pitching. Bubic hasn't allowed a run in any of his three starts this season spanning 16.2 innings. One of those was five innings against Detroit. Bubic doesn't have the strikeout potential that Mize does, but he can give your ratios a serious boost if you are in a close ERA or WHIP matchup. Like Mize, walks have been a bit of an issue for Bubic, but when he's only allowed five hits in three starts, the walks don't really matter. Come for the ratios. Stay for the strikeouts that are trending upwards.
