FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (1/24/21): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

Dennis Clausen highlights the top FanDuel NBA DFS lineup picks for 1/24/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Happy Sunday, everyone. On Saturday night, injuries and safety protocols opened the door for many players to crush their values. We witnessed another impressive performance from DeMarcus Cousins, who exceeded his value by over 10 times by finishing with 51.9 fantasy points against the Dallas Mavericks. Hit teammate Kenyon Martin Jr. didn’t look too shabby either, as the rookie nearly hit the eight times value mark.

While there will be games played early in the day, the FanDuel "Main Slate" kicks off at 7 pm (eastern) with five games on the agenda. After several postponements, the Wizards will finally be back in action, albeit the team will down a handful of options. As a result, we may find the most value in that one as Washington will meet up with the Spurs in San Antonio. Jason Tatum, who has missed the Celtics' previous four games due to COVID-19 safety protocols, will miss his fifth against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Other questionable players entering Sunday night include Trae Young (back), Russell Westbrook (quadriceps), and Austin Rivers (Achilles).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 1/24/21. These DFS lineup picks can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel. You can also check out DraftKings lineup picks and injury news before lineups lock. FanDuel DFS Guards

Bradley Beal, SG - @ SAS ($10,300)

As the Wizards prepare for its first contest in nearly two weeks, the club will be forced to play without some noteworthy weapons on the scoring side of the ball. Although Beal’s name has again popped up in numerous trade rumors and conversations as of late, he will be tasked with taking on additional duties, especially if Russell Westbrook can’t suit up against the Spurs.

The 27-year-old is currently leading the league with a remarkable 34.9 points per game. In his last three contests, he is averaging 45 points per game while also averaging nearly 29 shot attempts during that same span. His rostering price is up there, but he will make a suitable anchor in anyone’s DFS lineup on Sunday evening.

Rodney Hood, SG - vs. NYK ($5,000)

The Blazers have a massive void on the offensive end, with both C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic expected to miss a notable amount of time due to injury. While Damian Lillard’s DFS stock will skyrocket significantly, others will benefit as well.

Hood should continue to receive a sizable increase in minutes as a member of the starting unit. He played 25 minutes the other night against the San Antonio Spurs, finishing with 21 points. Without McCollum and Nurkic in the mix, he will get a massive increase of 8.8 in +/- differential in addition to getting a noteworthy 3.7% increase in usage on Sunday night against the surging New York Knicks.

Updated Options: Damian Lillard ($9,700), Dejounte Murray ($7,600), Kemba Walker ($6,800), Cole Anthony ($5,400), DeMar DeRozan ($7,700), Marcus Smart ($6,400), Terrence Ross ($5,200), Lonnie Walker IV ($4,200), Garrison Mathews ($3,900)

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Jaylen Brown, SF - vs. CLE ($8,300)

Brown’s asking price on Sunday evening is a bargain when you consider his ceiling against the Cleveland Cavaliers. On Friday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, the former Golden Bear had himself a game, finishing with 42 points on 16-for-28 shooting from the field while draining five of his eight shots from deep.

Without Jayson Tatum, the team’s top scoring option, the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft should continue to have the ball in his hands, which will give him some room to make a serious dent on the fantasy end.

Robert Covington, PF - vs. NYK ($4,800)

Although there are plenty of bargains in this five-game “main” slate, Covington may be the one with the most promising outlook. A versatile player capable of filling in at multiple positions, the veteran can get nasty defensively and provide a boost offensively when needed.

During the 2021 campaign, Covington has played consistent minutes. In Portland’s last contest, which was against the San Antonio Spurs during the week and the first without C.J. McCollum, the 30-year-old finished with only nine points. However, he made up for it by coming away with three steals. Had it not been for foul trouble, his fantasy output and workload would have likely been higher.

Updated Options: Evan Fournier ($5,500), Carmelo Anthony ($4,100), LaMarcus Aldridge ($5,600), Khem Birch ($4,800)

FanDuel DFS Centers

Enes Kanter, C - vs. NYK ($6,500)

After an unproductive tenure in Boston, many thought Kanter was on the downswing after being in the league since 2011. However, with the injury to Jusuf Nurkic, the 28-year-old is beginning to see his stock rise in the fantasy community.

In his previous two outings against Atlanta and San Antonio, Kanter combined for 80.6 fantasy points, a total skyrocketed by a 15-rebound, five-block performance against the Spurs. While his DFS price is getting a little too high for many, it is reasonable, primarily for those who don’t feel comfortable shelling out $10,000 for the services of Clint Capela

Brook Lopez, C - vs. ATL ($5,300)

Lopez continues to log heavy minutes for the Bucks despite his advanced NBA age. He is a threat on the glass—at times—and has developed a nasty deep ball over the years.

In his last four outings, the veteran has recorded at least 28.7 fantasy points in three of them while swatting at least two shots in seven of his previous nine outings. For those looking for an even cheaper DFS option, his brother Robin, who has been filling in for the injured Thomas Bryant in Washington, can be acquired for $300 less.

Updated Options: Nikola Vucevic ($9,500)
