FanDuel NFL DFS Lineup Picks for Week 5 - Daily Fantasy Football

Dennis Clausen highlights the top FanDuel NFL DFS lineup picks for Week 5 of the 2019 season, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Week 5 is here (already), and 12 games are scheduled throughout the afternoon. All of the matchups are fairly even, with the exceptions being New England at Washington (obviously) and New York Jets at Philly, with the Eagles being favored by 13 points.

In this article, I will be providing you with daily fantasy football picks in FanDuel for October 6, 2019 (Week 5). These lineups can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel. Be sure to also consult the NFL Depth Charts and Snap Counts for more critical information this week.

Follow me on Twitter @Den_Clausen. Good luck.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

FanDuel DFS Quarterbacks - Week 5 Picks

Tom Brady - QB, @ WAS ($7,600)

After putting up just 4.7 fantasy points against the Bills Defense, Brady will get back on track on Sunday against the Redskins. New England will crush Washington, with the only downfall here is if the Pats go up big, meaning the 42-year-old could sit, or they may run out the clock towards the end of the game.

Andy Dalton - QB, vs. ARI ($7,500)

No, this is not a joke. Though the Bengals have a crappy offensive line, Dalton has still made the most of his time under center for the most part and averaged nearly 20 fantasy points per game throughout the first three weeks. He played like garbage against the Steelers, but we will give him a free pass on that one. Look for him to bounce back against the Cardinals by spreading the ball around to Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate, and Tyler Eifert against one of the worst defenses in the league.

Kyler Murray - QB, @ CIN ($7,400)

If you are feeling ballsy and need a contrarian pick for tournament play, Murray hasn't played too horribly this season. The team will be without Christian Kirk, who is currently dealing with an injured ankle, but the rookie should be able to get it going with Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson floating around the field. He is lacking consistency in the throwing department, but he will make up for it by netting some yards on the ground.

FanDuel DFS Running Backs - Week 5 Picks

Ezekiel Elliott - RB, @ GB ($8,800)

With so many iffy options at the position, Elliott will likely be featured in many FanDuel lineups in Week 5. While Christian McCaffrey is always an ideal option, he has a semi-tough path ahead against a Jaguars Defense that has held its own against the run, while Elliott will instead have a favorable matchup against a Packers Defense that has allowed 143.3 rushing yards per game this year. McCaffrey will still produce more than likely, but Elliott will yield similar results while helping you save a little cash in the process.

Dalvin Cook - RB, @ NYG ($8,200)

Cook accumulated at least 22.3 fantasy points during the first three games of the season. He fizzled a bit against Chicago, which isn't surprising, but look for him to rebound against New York in Week 5. The Giants have done reasonably well against the run so far in 2019, but not well enough to stop a guy who is averaging just under 18 touches per game. He will be involved, and though Adam Thielen should get back on track, Cook will probably continue to play a significant role for the team in Week 5. You will have to spend some dough on running backs on Sunday due to a lack of options, so basing your lineup around Cook is not a bad way to go, especially in cash contests.

David Johnson - RB, @ CIN ($6,800)

To put it bluntly, the Bengals suck, making Johnson a priority pick in Week 5. He will likely be owned by a good majority of folks in all formats, but with Cincinnati allowing a league-worst 38.39 fantasy points per game to opposing backs, this one is a no-brainer. He may have his best performance of the season on Sunday, so don't be left out in the cold on this one.

FanDuel DFS Wide Receivers - Week 5 Picks

Julio Jones - WR, @ HOU ($8,200)

Jones has a lot of things going for him this season. He's tied for first with four receiving touchdowns and currently ranks seventh in targets with 37. The Texans are allowing 41.05 fantasy points to opposing wideouts this season, so if you require a top-tier receiver, Jones has a slightly higher upside in Week 5 than DeAndre Hopkins, a player who is priced $300 more.

Adam Thielen - WR, @ NYG ($6,900)

After Thielen seemingly criticized quarterback Kirk Cousins for not getting him the ball against the Bears, you can bet that the 29-year-old wideout will get some extra attention from the veteran signal-caller on Sunday. Though Thielen was quick to blame the quarrel with Cousins on the media after he came away with just two receptions for six yards in Week 4, there was definitely something brewing between the duo, with the discord likely getting remedied against a weak Giants Defense.

Tyler Boyd - WR, vs. ARI ($6,600)

As mentioned, the Bengals are absolutely atrocious, but to be fair, the Cardinals aren't much better. While Arizona isn't horrible defensively, Boyd will get some additional looks with John Ross (shoulder) out of the lineup and A.J. Green (ankle) still not ready to play. While he isn't the most efficient option for cash games, his ceiling is high, making him a better choice in tournaments. If the Bengals offensive line can keep it together long enough for Andy Dalton to get some time to throw, the 24-year-old could be in store for some significant gains in Week 5.

FanDuel DFS Tight Ends - Week 5 Picks

Jimmy Graham - TE, @ DAL ($5,500)

With Davante Adams out on Sunday after suffering a toe injury, Graham should see a more significant workload against Dallas. He looked good against Philly after not doing much of anything the previous two games prior. The Cowboys Defense is tough, but he should be able to get something done in Week 5.

Tyler Eifert - TE, vs. ARI ($4,600)

Eifert isn't the best option in cash games, but in tournaments, the ceiling is high. He will likely serve as the No. 2 receiver behind Tyler Boyd, and should get plenty of looks from Andy Dalton as the team deals with so many injuries on the offensive end. He may see around six targets, but is always a threat for a touchdown or two, especially if the Bengals are in the end zone, which is something that may often occur on Sunday against the Cardinals. If you are looking to save to spend up elsewhere, this may be the place to save.

FanDuel DFS Defenses - Week 5 Picks

Patriots Defense - DEF, @ WAS ($5,500)

Washington is having a ton of issues this season, especially as it relates to things on the offensive end. After Case Keenum was yanked during the Week 4 matchup against the Giants, rookie Dwayne Haskins entered but threw three interceptions. Now Colt McCoy will start against the Pats in Week 5, but things still aren't looking favorable as this will be the veteran's first taste of action since suffering a broken leg in December. This one may get ugly.

Eagles Defense - DEF, vs. NYJ ($4,900)

If you aren't looking to break the bank with the Patriots D, you can save some cash by rolling with the Eagles Defense in Week 5. The Jets currently have one of the worst offenses in football and are so bad, they are ranked behind the Dolphins in total yards per game.
