DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/28/19): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on May 28th, 2019. Daniel E. Dobish's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

For Tuesday's slate of Major League Baseball games, I'll be focusing on all of the contests beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET or later. Most DFS games will not including the San Diego Padres-New York Yankees (6:35 p.m. ET) or Pittsburgh Pirates-Cincinnati Reds (6:40 p.m. ET) games. Be sure to double-check the weather and the lineups before finalizing your roster.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/28/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too.

Today's Weather

The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies will be facing a 30 percent chance of precipitation at first pitch, increasing to 50 percent by game's end. It's looking very possible that this game will be washed out, so avoid players from this game just to be on the safe side. The same holds true for Game 2 in the battle between the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. The forecast is even more ominous, calling for a 70 percent or greater chance of rain showers all throughout the evening. Avoid all Indians and Red Sox, too.

In Denver, the Diamondbacks and Rockies will be facing a 40 percent chance of showers throughout the game. If they are able to squeeze in the game, they'll be facing winds blowing 14-17 mph in from left-center field to home plate.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Dylan Bundy - P, BAL vs. DET ($6,500)

It's very hard to trust any pitcher on the Orioles, but Bundy has registered 13.3 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG), a tremendous value in this price range. The Tigers rank dead-last in the American League (and 29th in the majors) in runs scored with 177, or just 3.4 per game. The Tigers have also struck out 506 times as a team, fifth-most in MLB. As such, Bundy is a sneaky-good play on this card.

Jon Lester - P CHC at HOU ($7,500)

The Chicago ace is another strong play, especially since he'll be up against the solid yet unproven RHP Corbin Martin. The Cubs are 12-3 over Lester's past 15 road outings, 5-0 in his past five interleague assignments and 6-0 in his past six against the American League West. The Astros are obviously no slouch, especially at home, but they are without 2B Jose Altuve and OF George Springer due to injury, too.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Yasmani Grandal - C, MIL at MIN ($4,100)

Grandal looks to make noise at Target Field against LHP Martin Perez. The backstop is hitting .288 with three homers and eight RBI with 10 walks and 10 strikeouts in just 52 at-bats against southpaws this season. His 10 homers are also third-most among all MLB catchers.

Cody Bellinger - 1B/OF, LAD vs. NYM ($5,800)

Bellinger hit a homer and added two outfield assists in Monday's series opening victory. He is the first player to accomplish that in a single game since Gary Sheffield did it on July 3, 1998. He also has 19 home runs and seven outfield assists in 52 games. Bellinger is the first player to reach those numbers through 52 games since Hall of Famer Babe Ruth in 1932. While OF Joc Pederson will likely sit on Tuesday against a lefty, Bellinger will be just fine against a southpaw. He is 22-for-65 (.338) with three doubles, six homers and 18 RBI with a 1.091 OPS vs. LHP. If you're gonna splurge on someone, splurge on Bellinger.

Shed Long - 2B, SEA vs. TEX ($3,300)

Long stumbled out of the box since his recall from Triple-A Tacoma, but he is starting to get his sea legs. He has hit safely in five straight games, including doubles in three of the past four contests. His salary is low, but he is starting to easily outperform his DFS salary on a nightly basis.

Matt Chapman - 3B, OAK vs. LAA ($4,300)

Chapman has connected for home runs in three consecutive outings, and despite the hot power run he is nowhere close to the top of the list when it comes to DFS salary among third basemen. Take advantage and keep riding the wave until it crashes.

Nick Ahmed - SS, ARI at COL ($4,400)

Ahmed has been red-hot lately, collecting two or more hits in three of the past four outings, while hitting safely in six in a row and 11 of the past 13. He is 13-for-30 (.433) with two doubles, a homer and three RBI across the past eight outings to raise his average from .244 to .273. He won't give you a ton of power, but lately he has more than earned his keep on DFS rosters.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Joey Gallo - OF, TEX at SEA ($5,600)

Gallo checks into Tuesday's game with 15 homers and a respectable .278 batting average overall, and a lot of that success has been against southpaws. He has four doubles, four homers and 13 RBI in just 46 at-bats vs. LHP, slashing .304/.411/.652. Look for Gallo to make some noise at the dish against LHP Marco Gonzales in Seattle.

Alex Verdugo - OF, LAD vs. NYM ($3,900)

Verdugo is expected to be in the starting nine with Pederson grabbing some pine against a lefty. Verdugo has handled himself with aplomb against southpaws, going 14-for-42 (.333) with two doubles, two triples and a home run while adding six RBI and a .944 OPS. At this price range he is a nice value for his XBH potential.
