Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner, in Wednesday's season opener. Matthews had an efficient night, leading the Maple Leafs in scoring while only recording three shots. Worth noting is that he only had 17:29 minutes of ice time, which is lower than his average of 18:08 from last year and trailed off-season acquisition, John Tavares. Matthews did play on the top power-play unit with Tavares as expected and converted that usage into a goal. Despite some uncertainty on how usage will shake out between Toronto's two top lines, Matthews will retain elite value for this season.--Russ Ivanac - RotoBaller
