Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
Tyson Bagent, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent is set for a second straight start as the team travels to take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. Bagent played well in a Week 4 win over the Jets, though he wasn't a strong fantasy option, failing to score a touchdown as Chicago's ground attack led the way with another stellar performance. On paper, the Packers defense isn't a favorable matchup, allowing the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (185) through four contests. That said, the Jets and the Falcons each found success against Green Bay in that department.
Either way, fantasy managers outside of those in superflex/2QB formats shouldn't consider the 26-year-old for their lineups. Aside from the possibility that the ground game takes over again, teammate Caleb Williams (hamstring) has been officially labeled as questionable for the game, leaving the door open for him to get the starting nod instead. As it stands, Bagent ranks as RotoBaller's QB24 for Week 5.
Tyler Huntley, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley will start in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons in Georgia, replacing injured Lamar Jackson (ankle). Huntley subbed in at halftime after Jackson's ankle injury in the Ravens' 24-18 Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans, completing eight of nine passes for 64 yards and gaining 16 yards with his legs off on four rushes. Snoop is not a stranger to taking the helm while Lamar recovers from injury.
His upcoming start marks his fifth season starting a game in place of an injured or resting Lamar Jackson, according to NextGen Stats and Huntley, who said during an interview this week, "[i]t's just like riding a bike." Huntley has averaged 7.4 air yards per attempt in his career, with only 32.8% of his attempts going past the first-down markers, lower than any of the 27 qualified QBs since 2018, according to Next Gen Stats.
What makes Snoop a fringe starter against the Falcons is his proven ability to generate fantasy points with his legs. In his nine starts since 2023, Huntley has averaged 36 rushing yards per game. However, over that same sample, he has thrown for over 150 yards only four times and averaged just six yards per pass attempt, which would place him 28th out of 30 qualified passers this season.
Even though the Falcons' defense ranks 30th against the pass, giving up 264.8 yards per game, it has the third-highest quarterback pressure rate (43.6%), which further inhibits Huntley's ability to take deeper shots down the field. Huntley's rushing ability gives him a modest floor, but fantasy managers should temper expectations if they're looking for a week-winning QB2 performance at Superflex.
Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans Quarterback Cam Ward finally cleared 200 passing yards for the first time this season in Week 4 against Baltimore, completing 20 of 31 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Ward is now averaging 181.5 passing yards per game through four weeks with three touchdowns and two interceptions, although his two rushing scores have helped prop up his fantasy production.
He will look to improve his passing yardage against the Texans in Week 5. Houston has typically fielded one of the league's tougher defenses in recent years, but this season has been different. The Texans have been routinely gashed through the air, ranking 28th in passing yards allowed at 260 per game while surrendering six passing touchdowns through four weeks.
Houston has already faced several high-end quarterbacks in Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen, so the numbers may look worse than the defense actually is.
This is still one of Ward's better matchups on paper. Still, Tennessee's passing game hasn't shown enough consistency to make him a confident start, especially against a Texans unit with plenty of talent at all three levels. Ward remains a lower-end QB2 in Superflex formats and should stay on the bench in single-QB leagues.
Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis had a rough game last week in Minnesota, completing only nine of his 17 pass attempts for a season-low 85 passing yards. He lost a fumble and added just 11 rushing yards, posting his lowest fantasy output of the season in the team's 15-10 road loss. Willis has only produced two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) in four starts and has four turnovers with a 56.3% completion rate and an average of 178 passing yards per game.
He did look much better in Week 3 in his only home game of the season, throwing for 210 passing yards and running for 56 more yards against the Chiefs. He'll hope that coming home to take on the Bengals can help him get back to that kind of production, but with more touchdowns in the mix as well. Willis is only the QB28 in RotoBaller's Week 5 rankings, making him a desperation start even in two-QB leagues this week.
His rushing potential makes him intriguing long-term, but the team's overall offensive struggles make him a high-risk play until he finds a better rhythm.
