Xander Schauffele is One Parameter Shy of Being a Must-Play at US Open
Despite his solid finishes this season, Xander Schauffele has still not returned to the dominant form we saw a couple of years ago. However, he's been electric in the biggest events this season, with top 10s in both majors and a season-high finish of T3 at The Players. His ball-striking is still some of the best on tour, but the short game has ruined any victory hopes. For the season, the 32-year-old ranks 87th in strokes gained around the green (0.005), but was able to have a good week around the greens in his last outing at Muirfield Village. Schauffele's talent should always warrant consideration in big tournaments, but his week will likely come down to what happens in the tough spots around the putting surfaces and keeping rounds alive.
